Nikon Question

Found a good deal on a Monarch 4-16x42 With the BDC recticle and just lookign for any good or bad reviews on this scope. Also for the Price ($580) what other options are out there? Keep in mind i want something more than a 3-9. Thanks

I bought that exact scope last year and have it on my .300 wsm. great optics and awesome in low light up to 12 power. i find the 16 power setting a little blurry/fuzzy in lower light. The BDC recticle seems to work for my gun out to 400 yards anyways (haven't shot any further with it) and puts shots within 2" of center (up and down) using it at 400. I would like to try it at 5 and 600 to see how it works. Good adjustments and found it easy to center on paper. Personally I like it and would get another. I believe I paid $450 plus shipping off ebay. Not sure what seller. It was NIB. Hope this helps

I don't have that particular scope, but I do have several Nikon scopes and love them. The BDC is pretty accurate, I have my rifle set in at 100yds and can hit a clay pigeon at 300 on the BDC and out to 600 on a 12" gong at the range I use. (I don't hunt out to 600yds while hunting so I am happy with this) The price seems about right, but if you want to go onto ebay, or craigslist the only think to be careful of is Nikon redesigned there scopes last year and they new ones didn't come into canada until I think may/june. I like the newer model better.

In the Monarch series have:
2 x 3-12x 42 BDC .308 & .300WSM
1 x 4-16x 42 BDC .308
1 x 6-24x 50 Target Dot .223
2 x 8-32x 50 BDC .223 & .308

So like them.. The 6-24x broke, Nikon (Richmond) replaced it, no issues. If ordering from the USA the risk ITAR issues and warranty unlikely to be honoured.

For the 4-16x I paid $530 to my door when it was on sale at Prophet River.

It is a very nice optic! A friend on mine has the monarch. Just buy it! You will be happy!
