Closing day success!

Well guys, if i said its been the slowest deer season ive ever seen, it would still be an understatement! Usually i can say ive passed on 20 bucks or so by now, but this year was not the case. i know ive been doing alot of complaining about it lately, but i never gave up! ive hunted harder than i ever have before. Every minute of daylight for 2 weeks, ive been out there given'er all i got, as well guiding my girl when she can hunt! It paid off! :lol:
ill make the story short. I was scrambling around today checked out a couple areas today, Met "Valleycowboy" first thing this morn in the bush, wished each other luck and parted our ways. Saw some other guys dragging a lil one out. I changed my spot and went back to the area i seen a toad a few days ago. The area was beat badly with guys, So i started hiking some bush ive never been in before, guys had already walked that too today (we got 3 inches of snow this morn.) Feeling very discouraged, i jumped in my tracker to drive only a few hundred meters up the mountain. out of the side of my eye i see a deer with big rack only 20 yards in the bush. As soon as i hit the brakes, hes gone running. Its about 3:00 oclock, i gear up, lock my rig and decide to follow the bugger til dark! This buck took off and never looked back, he went almost straight up hill through alot of thick bush! He ran through so many other deer tracks i lost him a few times, but i got a feel of his direction and the way he was moving. I just kept moving in the same line. "Im guessing" that lost and found his track 3 or 4 times in an hour over 1.5 kms. All of a sudden on my left, i see the back end of a deer. On the ground at its heels is a huge rack, the buck was behinda lil rise of land with his nose on the ground about 2 feet behind the doe. As soon as he lifted his head a bit, BOOOOM right in the neck, hes down, a nice 4x6 with brow tines. Yipppeee!!! Now im way in the bush with 45 min of light left, i gutted him in about 3 minutes while hes still kicking (serious) grabbed his antlers and headed to where i figured the nearest road was, turned out about 500 meters drag. hit the road right at dark. I just got home, and i stink like BUCK, but i had to share with you guys before i showered! :lol:

Beauty Mark...I too was out today with my son and Dad....only saw one grouse anh lots of horizontal rain, then sleet, the a snow blizzard (coq. highway)...nice to be out but crappy day....

Horseshoe, man i thought i was bad luck this year, right up til i plugged him.
Near the t-cam, No, it was on the same mountain but at least 3 or 4 miles away! i never did see those t-cam bucks again but another hunter in the area did, he described them to a tee, so i got his email address and sent him the pics, he was pretty surprised when i said i had seen all 3 bucks too and had pics of them!

Oy ya the score, ill get the rack back from the taxi-d tomorrow, hes not book, im guessing gross 170ish, ill score him tomorrow and let ya know!

Ya that buck was a super hawg!!! I sold harley my bucks full body cape as well. The guy that shot that buck, wasnt even a local, but he stopped in when i was there and told the story. No wonder i find so many big sheds in them hills. I was out whitey hunting today, saw a huge mulie at 30-40 yards for 20 minutes, got it all on video, trying to download it! then ill post it!

Aye I saw a gorgeous mule buck this evening when out scouting with my girlfriend. He would have went 170''+, perfectly symmetrical. Course he wasnt around when I was there the other day with my bow :D

I sure kicked myself when I realized I left my camera at home!
