Hiked up to Lindeman lake this morning for a day of fishing. It was a little drizzly in the morning but then around 11am the sky broke open. The worst part of the day was when I was half way into the hike I remembered my fishing rod was still leaning against the truck tire. Hiking with a fully inflated float tube on a tight trail is not too fun but I made it to the lake in 45min. When I got in the water it was really slow I was using my spinning rod with wedding bands, tried worms, talked to another guy who had nothing trying flys. Then I see one guy from the shore pull some nice fish out of the lake and I asked him what he was using. He yelled back power bait! Lucky for me I had some buried in my kit, I only had it cause it was a gift. I ended up getting some good pan fry and one 15" that put up a decent fight, not bad for a small lake. Going back down was a lot easier because I was able to deflate my tube and tuck it between the batwings of my 2800, made it to the truck in 20 min. I never believed in power bait until today.:-o

Love those little alpine lakes!
Nice fish!
When I hike into lakes like Lindeman I pack a fly/spin combo...and always throw in powerbait and the like..
I love fishing interior lakes, rivers, etc.....but there is something pretty "magical" about hiking up into the mtns and hooking up with some of those little guys! :-)

I use an ultralight trout rod and reel with 6lb test main and a 4lb leader. It makes it so much fun when your rod is bent over on a 15" fish. Can't wait to hook into a 2-3lb trout with this set up lol

Greendrop a bit further down the trail has some good fishing too! I use to love hiking the float tube up into those two lakes :)

By the look of the sat photo's you might be able to drive almost to Greendrop via the Skagit, has anybody tried that route?

The road on skagit side has a nasty wash out, I got passed it on my bike before but you come up to a sign at a bridge that says no motor vehicles beyond this point.

Skipped out of work today and decided to go back to the lake. Managed to pull three more into shore and had 3 others on the line. I wish I let the one in the middle go, she was stuffed to the gills with eggs.
