Funny Enough, I put tags all over northern BC and with all the group hunts we put in I lucked out and got the same hunt but with one tag for Dec. I might go there in Sept for moose and scout around. If I locate any good areas I'll let you know. Whats the date of your hunt?

I think that is the Halfway river draw. The cabins at the Blueberry ranch are handy and you'll be hunting quickly from there in the morning.Take good sleds with the proper tobbagan and drive till you find fresh scat or see them.Lots of good viewing spots.Roll up the hide quick after skinning or it will freeze as a sheet of plywood. The hump on those things is really deep over 20 inches so something to half the animal that can handle that.It is very nice in there and you'll have a great time.

Perfect advice. I would say that is the best draw too but dress warm and make sure you have the gear to pull em out if they get into a nasty spot. Really look at their vitals. you have to hit them low and don't forget that.

I talked to Patrick at the ranch today and he said he doesn't know if they will let leh people in until he gets his quote of bison tags from the cos.

you will be dealing with Glen and Tylene now very nice people. I had the draw for jan 1 - 15 and got skunked it was a weather issue everyone warned me for minus 40 weather we got there and it was pretty much hovering around zero degrees a little over at times and a little under and not much snow at all. the bison had way to much bare ground to roam and they weren't pushed down that low. we didn't realize how high you had to hike in order to find some sign and by that time it was already too late we were limited on time up there so came back empty handed. hopefully the weather cooperates with you to push them down to lower ground, but if you find some fresh sign they shouldn't be too hard to find good luck to all with the draw. it was a blast and I would do it again in a heartbeat

Note that the trail around is quad/sled only. Was rough last year. Pack lots of fuel.

The trail around the ranch was awesome when we went for our January hunt. It did add about half an hour of sledding each way, but as others said, you could hunt while riding it.
Goatguy stayed at a cabin just before the ranch. I saw in another thread that he offered up the contact info for that cabin.
Either way I am super envious that you are heading up there with 2 tags. Good for you guys. Best of luck to you all.
Try not to freeze your nuts off! :)

a few years ago, my father and i both got tags as well at the same time. managed to take a young bull myself and my father harvested a big mature bull. Thankfully we had some extra hands around to help and couldn't have done it without them. Would do it again in a heartbeat. Shoot low.
