seen a nice little bull north of Chuchi. Spend some time in that country and you'll be skinning moose

If memory serves me right there is a hot springs (actually just warm) just west of the lodge, on the beach. Nice way to relax after youve nailed him.

Was kinda thinkin about staying in the east around the skunk/finger lake area or philips lakes to the south, you think a guy would have better luck goin out west

I personally like the west, but unless you have a couple quads, there is not a ton of access any more for PU traffic. The east has more access, but more hunters and traffic.

Either side will produce moose, learn to call (very easy to do), spend time getting off the machines and walking and you will find them.

Good luck

That's the key to success ! Find some sign & work/call that area !
On my moose hunt last year,we saw moose sign everywhere the first couple days but than it all dried up when more hunters started arriving ! Moose are not stupid & will move to less accesable places when pressured ! The more traffic the deeper back they go ! They seem to know that quads and trucks are bad news & they have excellent hearing !

Definitely learn to call! The time frame you mentioned is the "Peak" of the rut. Find a good vantage point overlooking an area where you have found sign, and call. Do not be discouraged if Mr. Bullwinkle doesn't come sprinting towards you after 20 minutes of calling as it takes patience. Alot of times the bulls can be call-shy and will not respond as aggressively as others but will still be coming in to investigate, and before you know it they darn near walk over top of you. Get out there before first light, start with some long soft cow calls, and spend the morning there. Lot's of critters up in that country, good luck to you guys!

There are a couple good videos on youtube for moose calling techniques. PM me if you have any questions regarding calling

Cheers,
Chris
