That's right, I said CHEAP. :-D

After getting mine either stolen, ripped down by bears, or squashed by falling trees, I dont wanna fork out any amount of $$ for another good one.

If anyone can recommend a cheapo, basic camera that still does the job, I'd appreciate it. As long as it goes off when it's supposed to and I can make out what is in the picture, it'll do. I want to pick up a few this summer and get 'em going.

Thanks for any advice.

I use a plain-Jane "Tasko" for under $100.
Nut'n fancy but it takes decent pictures.

i have used the basic stealth cams. They do the job. Depending on where you live the wholesale sports in langley is clearing them out. Apparently they have a crap load and they never sell. But phone the store first, I heard they were taking a bunch up to huntfest to clear them out. (I know a few guys in the archery department)

I was at Hunt Fest in Chilliwack and bought a couple of Tasco trail cameras for $39.95 each (1/2 price) at the Whole Sale Sporting goods spot. I haven't tried them out but I'm going to try and catch a picture of the bandit with the mask that is coming into my back yard (racoon) and bathing in my pond.

Problem with the real cheap ones is you get some that work well enough and some that are just useless. It's kind of a gamble.

I've got a Tasco one and it sucks. :) Pay a little more and get a better one. Still cheap.

Moultrie M80 is a nice compact size. Had two , one went down soon after purchase and went back to WS. They go on sale for about $120.
Now the new M100 is out, the m80 may be on sale. Looking to buy another pair myself.

Bass Pro has a great sale on for July 4th.

I've got a wild game innovations camera. 5mp, was 70 bucks @ basspro in Calgary. Works alright, and not overly fussed if it goes missing, or gets destroyed.

agree with Boxhitch, the M8o's are great cameras for the price. I got two also from wholesale sports when they were on sale. Not hard to find them online for just over $100. I've had them both in the bush since 21 Feb, and the origional batteries are still going strong

I'm running 12 M80 and they work great. Battery life is about six weeks. I put one up in the back yard and it took 800 pictures and still had battery life. Walmart had them and if you can find one that still has some they will be clearing them out.

X2 I got 2 of them and for 40$ I wont be pissed if the go missing. I don't expect them to work great either

I just bought two EZ-Cam from canadian tire for $120 for a pair, but they have a Bright flash on them like a normal camera. I am concerned that the flash will scare elk and moose and cause them to avoid the trails i set them up on. Does the flash cause animals to avoid that area, should i get the ones with the inferred instead?

I see no advantage to going with a regular bright flash and many disadvantages

I had 16 of the EZ cam. I spent more time changing batteries then I did checking the pictures out. That been said the animal didn't seem to mind the flash. Had several lick and nose the camera's.
