These type of devices are just thermoelectric plates used in heating and cooling. When consuming electricity they move heat from one side to the other. But when you get one side hot and keep the other cool they generate electricity. Ever see one of those fans on wood stoves that turn on when the stove is hot but has no power cord, same thing.

So the hotter you get the stove and the colder you keep the outside the better they will work. You can also make yor own, google "peltier generator" ect..
