Just back from a hunting trip in region 4.Scouting a spot for the next morning ended with a buck that night. We spotted a doe about 600 yrds away and after watching her for about 10 min. a large buck came into view. The biggest buck went back into the bush and three more walked in to the field. As two of the smaller bucks started to fight I shot the other larger one. I would have waited to see if the bigger buck would come back but I was loosing shooting light, so took the shot.
The butcher said my Deer had taken a beating as there was a lot of bruising and a hole through his hide.It must have been a big animal to do that kind of damage to my buck.Unfortunately I'm done for the year so I hope I can find him next season.
This was the first year my son was with me when a Deer has gone down. That made the trip all the better.
Oh ya and the use of doe scent didn't seem to work for me on this trip.
