Took my son out on Saturday and this buck walked in on us. Not the monster I was hoping for but with the boy with me and him just getting interested in hunting it would be big enough for this year. Next year maybe I can put him on to one just like it.:) Took us a couple hours to get him out but he didn't care, it was fun as far as he was concerned.

You can say what you want about the lack of monstrosity, but I'd have to have a MIGHTY full freezer to let a deer like that walk...

Great deer - like you said would be awesome to put your young buck on a buck that like that next year. How far was the shot?

Congrats

Thanks Rick, Just don't be telling anyone where I live, 'cause I don't need everyone in my back yard, it ain't that big. Then the neighbors start complaining and then the authorities get involved and I have a big mess on my hands, etc, etc, etc.

It's kind of ironic, I wasn't even supposed to be in town this weekend. I was supposed to be in Van. at the Stones Concert. If they hadn't cancelled I may have missed this opportunity with my son, at least for now. Now I think I'll bring my dad in and try for a three generation big buck hunt. My dad bought my son some 30-30 shells to go in the gun he bought me when I was fourteen, which I'll give to my son to start his hunting career as I did. Now there's a picture and a story in that when it happens.:) :) Thanks for the comments guys, and you can bet no one will forget these memories for a lifetime.
