Black bear .....skin question

can you "clean " up a skin , stretch out and dry with borax or salt..........not looking for a perfect mount but something I can hang on the wall.

You may want to get it tanned. Otherwise it will prob smell pretty bad if just salted and dried..........

X2 there is some tanning kits at helford hides mail order, its a ton of work but its the minumum you'll want to do if your going to hang it on the wall

You can stretch and dry a pelt but it wouldn't last too long without having it tanned

Check out some vids on tanning skins on youtube. They have a lot of people who have different ways ot tanning, and it works for them! The key seems to be to smoke the hide after you salt/cure it, and that seems to perserve it and kill everything

There's an old saying "god gave animals enough brains to tan it's own hide" Look up brain tanning, it's been practiced for many a year. It's must work!!
