Well it has been quite a while since I actually went out with my bow with the intention of actually shooting something....in this case a bear. Since the boy got his core two years ago its been his show, with me just handling the chauffer and video camera duties. Well tonight i thought it was time to start him learning to film so Dad could be on the stick for once. So he hops off the bus at 3:30, quick change of clothes, I grab my bow and off we go. We drove to an area just minutes from my house and made the turn in off the highway. A couple hundred yards off the highway the railway tracks cross the road we were on....and we all know how bear like railway tracks. About 250 yards down the tracks there is what looks to be a pretty decent bear so I don't even slow down but carry on up the road a ways and we park and head back. The wind was good and we had pretty steep drops off both sides of the tracks so we drop down the opposite side of the tracks as the bear and move up until i think we are close. I poke my head up over the tracks to get a better look at the bear and decide he is definately a shooter with the bow. A quick ranging puts him at 35 yards....a few seconds at full draw for the boy to get the camera on him and for the bear to turn broadside and i let fly. I watch the arrow all the way in to his shoulder and as he runs up the trail I can see the arrow hanging on by the fletches in the off side shoulder. Bear went 50 yards and piled up! Busted both shoulders and got both lungs! Left the house at 3:35....walked up on the dead bear at 3:55.....bear hung and skinned in the shop and having a beer by 5:00!!!

This bear was virtually a carbon copy size wise of the one "The Beast" took earlier this spring ......so PHEW!! He won't be able to razz his old dad about shooting a bigger bear!!!
I can't figure out why he makes stuff look so much bigger in pics than I do though!!!

The Particulars:
Elite GT500 67#'s
Gold tip 7595' with 100 grain 3 blade rage broadheads
400 grain total weight @ 297fps

well... i figure we go hunting to: see wildlife, spend time with family and friends, enjoy stalking critters, enjoy the rush of knowing you're gonna get a shot etc.......I did all that.!! haha!!

not sure why I burned any gas at all on this one.....we had 7 bears within 150 yards of the house monday morning!!! yikes....kids better be on their toes when out in the yard!

Great bear lets see your video http://static.app.widdit.com/images/features/searchwiddit.png (http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/#)

Yeah, I know.....I've got about 30 hunts on video all edited up and ready to go. The day I get off dial up internet you guys will have 3 years worth headed your way!

BZMikey- nope, different bear, different spot.....not as far north as the one you are thinking of.......and yes your boots are on my porch. As far as the lucky shoes.....of course he was wearing them, I won't let him hunt in boots anymore!!! haha!
