Was just in there on the long weekend. Not much there now since the fire ripped through there.

Ditto. Pretty scorched out. Also good populations of cougars and wolves there. Do the math.

marble range "used to be good" mabee it will be again someday but its not now. Yes alot of wolves and cougars and other factors I wont get into...the sheep had a big die off a few years ago and have not recovered, as far as deer you will be hard pressed to even see a doe there in october.sad for an area that had such a rich hunting history way back when..

That is one fine job...photoshopping all those trees into that picture! Could sure fool someone into thinking the area wasn't a burned wasteland.....:-|

Hey, no problem. We don't all drive to the lookout on the northern tip in the area that didn't get burned.
But hey, what do I know?

Were there goats there once? I was curious but it didn't really look that goaty to me, more sheepy.

Which part is that. I was in the south part as well and didn't see that. We also have a year round view of the entire length of the range from the northeast and haven't seen that. Must be just a small portion of the range...certainly not enough to decimate the deer population as some have suggested.....while others report healthy deer numbers. Easy to say a fire has taken the deer away...another thing altogether to observe same

Here's my 1000 words. I think the recent burn in question is the big blob in bottom centre. It was a pretty big fire but didn't cover the entire range.

It's pretty simple, if the predators are there the ungulates are there.
