Ok, I just spent the last half hour trying (unsuccessfully) to superimpose the cheesy map in the Regs on top of a real map that shows decent landmarks, roads etc so I can tell where the boarders of the different MU's are in Region 8. Anybody know of an online resource that shows the boarders on a decent map so I don't waste my LEH on an MU that may be just close to the one I actually want to hunt in? I'll try a bookstore this weekend if there isn't such a thing online.

do you know how to download torrents? If so, go to pirate bay and type BC managment units. There is a great layer that goes right on top of google earth, no more guesswork

You don't have to use torrents. You can get it direct from the BC government: BCGov_Web_Map_Library.kml (http://openmaps.gov.bc.ca/kml/BCGov_Web_Map_Library.kml)

If you open this in Google Earth you have layers for all kinds of stuff. MU boundaries are at the bottom under Wildlife and Plant Species.

However that particular layer is not very accurate... only 2 km resolution.

someone has to challenge this in court, these maps suck so bad that a CO could not truly tell me where the boundary was.

Agreed with XPEIer, even the Backroads map books, which I have a couple of, show a line for the boundaies that is about an 1/8" wide and if you were to put that to the map scale you have almost a 1km boundary area. I think if one was hunting near a boundary line the COs would have a challenging time charging you with anything and making it stick. I try to avoid hunting too close to the boundaries if there are any differences in regulations that would affect me though and if you do get close to the boundaries your best bet is the backroad map books and check in the map for some larger landmarks that are obviously within your area and stay around or within those landmarks. Only problem with the backroad map books is that they are not government issued and are an interpretation of a company printing the maps so even if you go by them if you get in trouble the COs and courts may argue this and say it is not legal documentation of the boundaries and it is not verified before printing by government officials and so the accuracy can be brought to question and then your hooped....

I have the Back Roads SD Card for my GPS works great, and it covers all of B.C. and wild life units.

I wish there was a better map to show the different zones for the leh boundries aswell.

That is there in the BC Gov't web maps KML that I posted earlier. LEH zone boundaries are also under Wildlife and Plant Species.

Unlike the MU boundaries, the LEH zones are pretty accurate (200 m resolution if I recall correctly).

If you want to use them "offline" rather than having to wait for them to load up from the map server each time you scroll, CAC has created KML files that you can use instead of the government ones. See thread here: BC LEH Maps in Google Earth (http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/showthread.php?81119-BC-LEH-Maps-in-Google-Earth)

Not the same as the one I am referring to

I believe the underlying data is the same. He may have changed the way it's shown (labels, fill colour) but the location of the boundaries should be identical.
