Hi folks! i just finished skinning a black bear and the hide is a bit dirty and has dried blood on it.Wondering if anyone could give me suggestions on how to clean it or if i should finish fleshing and what not first as i am planning on trying to do thewhole process myself including tanning it!

Awesome!!! Congrats...post the pics when you are done with it...

Just use a warm rag with water and be gentle.

i wouldnt worry about it ,your more than likely going to make up a brine for it ,at that time you can wash it and put it in your brine

I've actually just draped it over a saw horse and rinsed with a garden hose.Skin side up,then, flip, and do the fur side.Nice sunny day,it dries fairly quickly. If you've got a sheet of plywood, stand up right against the fence, tie up the head, and rinse down, that works good too.
