Hello,
I am desperate to fill in my tag for white-tail doe in region 8-12. I spent two last weekends there and did not see a single deer. Seems like all the deer in lower 8-14 region. My friend hunted 8-14 at the same area as me and saw tons of deer. I am a new hunter and do not know the area 8-12 good enough. I would really appreciate any info where I can find a doe in 8-12. This weekend is my last try to fill in the tag. Please help... You can PM me. Thank you.:frown:

Hit the 201 road (off Hwy 33) and find some cuts. Sit and wait and one should come by. If it was me I would just drive one of the hundred roads that come off the 201 until you find one. By driving around, I mean drive until you see a cut, stop and glass the whole cut. Drive closer to the cut and glass some more. Once you get in the cut glass again.

Do this in every cut you see and you should get your doe. If you dont see any you are doing something very very wrong.

Trapping Creek is another good road to try.

Where have you been hunting and what have you been doing? Have you seen any deer? Or are you just seeing tales and no chance at a shot.

Yep pretty good advice. I would drive till you see a concentration of tracks in the snow. Then get to a high vantage point and glass. We got fresh snow in Kelowna area now so a doe is about a 90% chance. Just remember...........go for the heart/lungs and enjoy yor Venison! I'm leaving right now to pick up my meat at Illichmanns!

Conkie Lake.
Was up there last year mid Nov with no doe draw.
I tried to make almost 50 does grow antlers to no avail.

i could be mistaken but i believe conkle is 8-14...

Conkle is in 8-12. The western boundary of 8-14 goes through Westbridge.

Anywhere along the West Kettle you'll find tonnes of whities. Hunt the west side south of Beaverdel or just about anywhere else for that matter. Beaver Ck road, Dollar Mtn., Carmi. Doesn't really matter. Just don't road hunt. Get out find some well worn trails, sit, grunt, rattle. Enjoy the hunt and you will be successsfull. Let them come to you. Cover your face and hands and sit very still.

Yep.... Get a way from the roads and the roadies and you will find no shortage of deer anywhere here. We have fresh snow and things are looking good for whities! Got the quad all ready to go sitting on the doorstep. Heading out first thing if I dont get one in the yard first!

You should have no problem filling that tag. Good luck.

Go up to the westbridge store and hang a left, go about 4 - 5 kms (I think) and there will be a road that leads to the left and ther will be signs directing you to a campground, when you go over a bridge keep going straight and once it turns to the left about 250 yards down will be a road that leads to the left, its the back way to Conky Lake (Conkle) , just go up aways find a pull off and go up a deer trail or old skidder trail, when you walk up there, you'll get off the beaten path and a whole new world will open up as there will be limited pressure on the game.
I haven't hunted rock creek for 5 years so my distances might be a little off!8)

Thank you guys for your help. I am back and still recovering... This trip was a complete fiasco - worst ever. My truck broke down within 2 hours as we get to the spot (beaverdell). Oil leak to cooling system... And then we noticed an air leak from the tire - it was slowly getting flat! What a day! Had to turn back and barely made it back to Beaverdell with almost no oil in the motor. Then a disasterous trip back to Burnaby. And yes, almost forgot, my car stereo died as well on the way back to home! I am not joking! Glad we made it back. Now I am looking for $1000-$1500 repair bill if it is just a gasket. It is also could be a crack in the motor head (hope it is not!). It seems that my hunting luck left me for a while...

Oh man , thats the sh*ts, you must be driving a Chevy! Did you get any time in or just turn around? I'm sure you must of stopped in the beaverdale pub for some sorrow drowning! I hope that things look up for you.8)
