we have a bunch of people that will take them for fertilizer in their gardens. I've started spreading the word with the local oriental and jewish communities, seems to be some interest there. I need a longer stringer, had to stop today because I ran out of room :)

Chris, I moved to Fintry/Vernon recently, looooots of big stinkies around here :)

That's how they got to North America. Someone wanted cheap means of feeding his workers and imported a few for his pond, knowing that they would multiply like rats. Viola, they're all over the continent. Like many other non indigenous species, like starlings, the english sparrow and that fish whose name escapes me at the moment that is marching up the Mississippi River toward the great lakes, like perch from alberta introduced into the lakes in the Shuswap region.
You bowhunters want some real action, go to Vaseaux Lake in June on the north-east corner and shoot them in the shallows as they attempt to spawn.

Thats a lot of biomass there. :-/

There is a channel between a small and a medium sized lake up here where the great fat *******s spawn. Some people go there to catch them for halibut and crab bait.

Should I be shooting the pricks?

Growing up in Coquitlam..next to Como Lake..as little snot nosed punks we use to fish for Carp and Bullheads and throw them out onto the road and let the cars have at them... The birds would have a heyday cleaning up the mess !!

Down towards Kamloops Lk, on the Tranquille side, there is a area that gets flooded with high water. When it begins to reside, I used to see a couple guys out with a small aluminum and bow hunt them. Always thought that would be cool to try.

I should add that I have a couple sets of extra gear, if anyone is keen to try, they just need some basic fitness/swimming skills, a fishing license, and the desire to smell like rotting fish. oh yeah, and catch me when I'm not in the bush or underwater.

Diving in the St. Laurence I saw quite a few that would go 50lb+, pity spearfishing is illegal in Onterrible.

We used to spearfish for pike and carp in S Ontario in the 80's....did that change? They're classed as "Rough fish".

Sounds good, except since moving to PG I have not been back to the Okanagan. We used to go every year. My brother may be passing through there on his way here in the beginning of August. I'll check his schedule and pm you - if the offer is still open. ;)

As i see you know where to find them :) . Do you mind sharing some of your carps?
thanks.
