Here is a Link to what I have been working on the last year in my spare time.. Thought some might like to see it. can't seem to post individual pics. Building this out of lumber from our old Lower Nicola water tower which was replaced a couple of years ago..

Very nice, great work. Give us some insight on the project, length, where did you get the plans or did you just build it as you went along.

Great work! I'd like to build a cedar strip canoe one day, and it's posts like these that give me the inspiration to make it happen!

Wow, that's quite a skill you have there. Where did you learn to do that? Did you use plans or is it your own design?

Wow, thats is pretty amazing! THanks for the pics. Surely building your own fishing/hunting boat would stock up the karma jar in a big way! How much dough$ is it just for the material to do that?

No kiddin, that is a nice boat. Thats like "Heirloom" Quality. I was expecting some kind of converted Flat bottom Tinnie or something. But that thing,,,,, You sit on a lake in the sun with a fly rod and a glass of Scotch!

The boat is 19' long with a 7'2" beam. hull is 56" deep at the bow. I built it with similar lines to an "Ocean Pointer " which is a downeast work boat style. I modified the lines and lofted all the lines to come up with the frame shapes. The strips are salvaged red cedar 1 1/8" x 3/4" Glued with epoxy and the fiberglassed inside and out with epoxy resin. The worst part is the sanding

Hours I havn't been keeping track of . I mostly try to work on it an hour before work in the mornings or an hour in an odd evening. This is a learn as you go project. I have a fairly well equipped shop so that helps. Also havn't kept track of all the materials but expect the hull to run a couple of thousand. then rigging and powering. can easily add another 10 g's unless I get a used engine. I do it for the enjoyment in building it myself, not for the economics. You can get a used boat on ebay alot cheaper. :)
