Thought I would share some pics of my first ever turkey shot yesterday 11am. It has a 10 inch beard, left spur 7/8inch, right spur 4/8inch(broken). All I have to say is this turkey hunting is a rush!!

Nice Tom...thats about as big as they get.....Your hooked. I can tell by the smile on your face.

Like hunting White Tails....only smarter. The tricky part is getting them to face you inside shotty/.22/bow range, once they make you your pretty well done.

Great bird! What a start to turkey hunting. Keep it a secret - we don't want everyone to know how fun it is. Congrats

Awesome Tom! Gonna tell us how it went down?

After a full day of walking around Saturday and not seeing any turkeys me and my hunting partner were starting to get discouraged so next morning we wake up around 830 jump in the truck for a last kick at the can before we have to head back to the coast. About ten minutes later we are coming down the road and my buddy says turkey! To bad it was a hen.. So after thinking that was the only turkey we were going to see we continued down the road not 3 minutes later as I'm scanning the bushes I see a Tom in full strut with a bright red head. I say Tom! Jump out of the truck not sure if we were still moving.. I look around and no Tom. Well that's it I guess we're not getting a turkey so we head back to camp to pack up pull in get out of the truck and gobble gobble! So we pull out the box call and give it heck and get a quick response (first time an animal has responded to a call for me). So I keep calling and getting response as I track down the noise up the hill. As I'm walking up the hill and calling 4 deer jump out in front of me and head in the direction of the gobbling so I give it another yelp and get a quick response and keep climbing a bit more until it sounds like he's 50 yards away so I stop get behind a tree and continue teasing him for what seemed like forever until I stood up gave a call and saw movement 30 yards away up went the shotgun and bang! First turkey down! I walked up to it and couldn't believe I just shot a mature Tom. I walked back to camp and my buddy was surprised he never even heard the shot which was right above camp. It will be hard to beat this first bird but it's a good problem to have.
