me and my friends put in for these areas every year, great odds always got a few draws.does anyone know why they would destroy these leh hunts by splitting the season,no one is going there for late hunt,to much snow you would end up stranded for the winter,in7-37 39,40 and 41.
24 tags till oct.10 basically they got rid of 75% of the tags.these were end of the road hunts that made for a great experience with no restaurant motels or gas stations for 6-8 hrs to 15hrs of gravel away minimum.had many good hunts in these areas, the odds are goona suck not worth the drive with 1 moose tag

The fact of the matter is, first nations ask, and get. This is why this happened.

Region 5 LEH moose tag allotments have been basically halfed throughout as well. No reason given that I have seen unless they are planning on some kind of open season again which I kind of doubt.

Wow!! Didn't see that! Tough moose hunt in the later part of the season for sure! Definitely winter conditions closer to Nov! I doubt it is a scientifically based decision, probably more of a social/political one? Lots of pressure up there on the moose especially during Mid August through to end September. Sad, but this was prognosticated by a few folks on this site 2 years ago, it is not something that happened over night!!! Moosin

Hearsay or fact? If the latter then please enlighten

It is more of a squeeky wheel gets the grease type of situation. There was a member on this site a couple years ago who was telling us as hunters to stand up, and participate in discussions. If I remember correctly, he was a guide outfitter, who was taking part in the discussions with the MOE and all other stake holders at that time. He warned us HBC members this was going to happen, and it did!! He also stated that it was going to get worst before it got better! Maybe we should be splitting half the HBC draw money with lobbyists to bargain for us resident hunters rights??!! Moosin

I'm with confused and curly on this one. Some people are not welcome there. I have seen this first hand with several middle fingers aimed at me in 7-41

i've hunted these areas quite a few times, and never had any problems with the locals. in fact liked 7-41 for its cheap fuel and cigarettes

I hate to say it but it is not scientifically based .Ian Hatter is the head fish and game guy in BC .His phone number is 250 387 9792.
Let him know what you think .They could have split the season or reduced authorizations but they did both .This is yet another heavy blow for resident hunters
in BC .
