Cliff Andrews the original owner passed away three years ago. The outfit is run by his daughter and her husband. Both have lots of experience as transporters and hunters and are carrying on cliff's tradition.

I went on a hunt with them a couple seasons ago. The horses we used were great and so was the service from them. They are a packer and will get you into some very nice area. We had lots of problems with grizzly bears while there. They came into camp on most nites and I lost a moose to one. This hunt will require lots of hiking as the base camp is set at the base of a ridge . Once you climb to the top, hiking south to Cairn Mtn will get you into elk. We saw moose everywhere we looked, lots of nice bulls. Send me a pm if you would like more info. I would hunt with them again anytime

Can anybody assist me with an email address or a telephone number for Tetsa River Outfitters? I tried their website but it is outdated and got through to the lady that runs the Lodge.

Although I never used their packing services, I did stay at their place in 2001 when bicycling
past their lodge a short time before Cliff passed away. I immediately was impressed with him
and his wife. They treated me exceptionally well, hooking me up a shower, giving me lodging,
a fantastic moose steak supper, breakfast, and a packed lunch, even though they weren't open
for the year yet. All they were going to charge me was $25...of course I wouldn't allow that, so
after bartering, they finally agreed to $45. You don't find people of their caliber these days.
Since then I've seen them, and later their daughter and her husband, in a booth at the yearly
Sportman Show in the Abbotsford Tradex Center.

We went this year for moose and elk. Best hunt of my life.
The combo of the people/ camp/ horses/ the food/ area/ and the amount of game you will see is world class 100%
we shot 3 bull moose and 2 elk. The hike was abit of a grind outa camp up the old muddy horse trail but worth it.
If you do decide to book you will need to invest in a spotting scope and good binos. Your day will consist of walkin 10ft and the glassing for a 1/2 hour....and repeat until dark. On average we would see min 2 griz a day 20 moose or more 5-7 Bulls. The spotter is a must to count points. Without it we would have waisted most our day tryin to shoot bulls with 9 pionts. We had every bull in the valley named. There was a total of 8 bulls that had 9x8. Everyday a
new bull would come into the area ........ It was soooooooo fun I can't contain my self right now recapping my experience. I'll never forget it for as long as I live.

What is a average cost of the hunting excursion like that? About a week hunting time? Just to have an idea.

this post above.sums it up.

I have done done three pack ins like this and one drop and hike in. They too were some of the best hunts of my life. Harvesting, Sheep, Bull Elk and Bull Moose.

No need to spend the mega cash Guides want. It's still not cheap for the average person like my self or most residents if BC. But the experience for the most part is second to none. Personally, I would not do one for less then a ten day hunt, but would prefer two weeks. If you only book a week, the weather can change and screw you over for days at a time.

If if you have not done it yet, DO IT ! You will not regret it if your passionate about hunting.

Prices range from from set prices for fly or river boat drops, to 300 to 400 per day depending on the services you want.

Tetsa hunts are 10 day duration, I believe the 2016 season will be $4000. Their licence allows them 15 hunters total per season, starting 15th Aug till when ever Doug gets tired. Usually end of Oct or earlier depending on snow.

Is the price per person?

dakoda62
12-13-2015, 02:06 PM
Yes per person, Basically the only thing you require is personal gear, and tag's

If you harvest a moose 5-10 miles from camp will they pick it up on horses for you?

dakoda62

Yep debone and take back to highway if it's to warm or hang in meat shed built in the trees in camp. We took a 16cu ft freezer with us and it had it plugged in at the highway lodge.
