Those are Common Mergansers.

Mountain Bluebirds are getting to be a bit of a rarity as too are the Western Bluebird. Since they both like to nest in abandoned woodpecker cavities, the abundance of their preferred nesting sites is decreased with clearcut logging. This is especially so when the forests are next to grasslands and large swamps.
Suprising to see a Long Billed Curlew, it's probably at the northern extreme of it's range.
I think the Kid's hair is okay, we all know he ain't hanging around the mall in North Kamloops.

You are right about the curlews being at their northern extreme in their range. We always have a couple pairs that show up here every year. I have also seen them in the Chilcotin.

A rare pic of a mountain bluebird! Haven't seen any except in the Alberta foothills/mountains except for one sighting north of Mackenzie BC. Good for you!
Any nesting boxes nearby? They're all over the farm country in Alberta.
The only nesting boxes that I have seen in abundance in BC has been in the Chilcotin and some sporadically along HWY 97 between 100 Mile House and Quesnel.
