As I already said- I didn't register any of the guns I owned prior to C-68. I waited them out. Took 17 years,, but I did it! :)

No way! There were many days when I was at personal risk though.

It's all about freedom, and the power of a democratic society.

One of the main reasons the registry fell apart, even before Harper and the boys did it in, was because of non-compliace. It was a hopeless concept that wasted billions, while real criminals laughed. I was one of those criminalized by my own values. Such is life. Freedom is not a given, ever.

Like others have said though, there are many dangerous aspects of the registry still alive. So, be vigilant and take nothing for granted.

I started with guns after the registry so all my guns were registered. I know several non-active gun owners who never bothered with any of it.

I believe that the majority of guns weren't registered.

There was an amnesty in place the entire time, so as long as the you possesed a PAL you legally didn't ever have to register anything. Anything purchased after would be registered though.

I can finally take the stickers off my registered glue, and staples guns now.

I had two that weren't registered. I had a breakin and four guns were stolen (among other things). The two that were registered were recovered and returned intact, while the non-registered ones are gone for good... just sayin'.

I think the moral to the story is record the serial numbers & descriptions, now that the registry is not doing that for us automatically.

I kept a .303 Enfield and a 12 gauge unregistered so if some idiot forced me to kick his butt, and then
went whining to the cops and got my firearms temporarily confiscated, then I'd still be hunting. :-)
Stupid laws, what does a good old fashioned ass whuppin' have to do with guns? :-)
Anyway, no one got me that pissed off and I never had to fall back on those antiques! :-)

Goodie two shoes here...

Besides the huge waste of money, the assault against my freedoms, rights, and ability to be responsible, and putting me at risk of indiscriminate search of my home, hassle about carrying the registration slips, waste of time, the inconvenience of registering delays due to business hours, and the risk of invasion of privacy, and the inherent risk of identity theft and the shit rats knowing that my home contained firearms, the registry was pretty painless. Glad its gone and a hex on any politician of any political stripe that ever tries to bring it back!!

Didn't they have a record of registration already on file, with the old FAC and newer PAL system.

Could be wrong, but I distinctly remember serial numbers and Make/Model getting jotted down at the gun shop, in a special book everytime a bought a gun....

Yup, but if you bought the gun and sold it to me there woudl be no record.

I was in a gun store yesterday and they said to a customer that the store will still record the information as they are required to keep transaction records for 7 years due to business laws. Sounded more like a tax thing to me.

Bet the cops are pissed, they cant use registered firearms as an excuse to come into a home anymore... they abused that a lot but now with no available records, they lost that excuse.

True, though every gun I've sold, I've made a record of buyers FAC/PAL#, along with Serial# of said gun, just to cover my arse if the rifle ever got into any "trouble".....:-D

My personal "registry", if you will.......
