East Stave Clean Up - April 21st at 9 AM Sylvestor Rd. staging area about 2km up the gravel rd

More info:
http://www.4wdabc.ca/content.php?177-4WDABC-2nd-Annual-East-Stave-Lake-Cleanup-April-21st

There was a good turn out from HBC last year and about 35 000 lbs of garbage was picked up by the end of the day.

Could someone post this over at Gun Nutz?

Gloves, garbage bags, pick ups and utility trailers are a great help.

35,000 lbs ? Annually ?
Do you guys get a free dump rate for doing a community clean-up ?
RDNO will not waive the dump fees for those doing a community service by cleaning illegal dump sites.

Mission has again waived the dumping fees and so far there is 2 dump trucks committed for the day......last year there was even free food.

Thanks for posting this up, Andrew.

It should be another great and rewarding day doing what needs to be done.

I look forward to seeing you out there.

I'm not big on security cams in the outdoors, but a few in strategic places near popular dumping sites might curb some of this bullchit.

It's not the first time this topic has come up but your post made me really consider this proposition and you know, I'd have to disagree. the idea of hidden cameras in our society, especially the back country, really concerns me.

It would be nice to catch the offenders though.

I am just waiting on my sons ball hockey schedule as to whether I can make it or not. If I was not an assistant coach I would say yes for sure. I still might be able to make it out. If I do make it, I will be bringing the dump truck.

I recall the one truck last year that drove through the meeting area with a trailer full of drywall. If there was a camera at the bottom of the road you'd see the truck inbound and outbound and the load difference. Trouble is, once it was common knowledge they'd just find a different road.

I can't remember exactly but I think the last dump truck left around 3 last year to make the dump.

It's not a super serious event, it should be fun, if you can only come for a while, come for a while, just make sure you sign the book at the staging area from hbc, at the end of the day it's cool to see all the different user groups coming together.

illegal dumping like this is gross and people got should have there vehicle impounded and be sent to an alabama jail to spend a week with an extremely large black man.

Unfortunately I can not make it out this year, last year it was great. Met a lot of new people and made a huge difference.

Anyone who has time should be a part of this, and good on those that are

Ok, here is the deal. My son has a ball hockey game that goes until 11 30. I would come earlier but, I am the coach, and I have made a commitment to the team long ago. I would not be able to get out there until 12 30/45. I have a dump truck at my disposal. Should I come out even though it will be later in the day????? Let me know!!

Absolutely! That is awesome!

Last year, we were scrambling trying to load the last dump truck at about 3:30 pm as it had/has to make the transfer station in Mission by the Dam by 4 pm. It was literally driving away as we were loading. This resulted in a decent sized pile of garbage that we couldn't deal with until the following weeks.

Thank you so much.

Kim.

just follow the trail of beer cans shot out tvs and spent shells till you get to what looks like a war zone filled with rubble .

I did my part. Felt good to help out. Mind you, I only had enough time to pull one load to the dump. Amazing how people have no problems throwing their trash in the bush. It really is dumbfounding. Who raised these shit rats?????

Thank you, Troy!

It's folks like you who make these events so successful. I don't have the final numbers yet but I expect to be over 10 ton of garbage plus another 5 ton of steel removed from East Stave this year.

It was an absolute pleasure meeting you.

kim

The numbers are in, 102 volunteers, 20 ton (20,000 lbs) of garbage and 2 ton (4,000 lbs) of steel + one Dodge Durango removed from the lower 8 km of Lost Creek FSR and spur roads.

A huge THANKS to our volunteers for a job WELL DONE!
