.270 win,,,, Cuz that is all i got. Rifle was zero confirmed a little while ago.
I drove around Cowichan last weekend lookin at the snow level..... one pile'o poo
Trip is planned for 4 days with the boys weekend after May 2-4
I have several day trips in mind, some in places i just want to scout for deer some places i want to go specifically for bear. The thing i love about spring bear is it is a great excuse to go explore new country, To pre hunt deer spots. This year im going to try to take some pictures of the bears i pass on. I'm not so good at pulling the trigger because it stops the fun!

Got a vendetta to settle with at 3000' but i think that is a fall thing.

Packing my 30-06. Nosler partitions 165 grain. Going to glass the slides and plan to put miles on my snowshoes. Gun should still be sighted in from last fall but will take a few shots just to confirm! Can't wait. Planning to go out end of April for a scouting trip and an idea on where the snow is at.

7 mag, I shoot quite often. It's good to go. I go for quick trips in morning and late afternoon. As for plans...to drop a bigger bear than I got last year.

I am focusing on getting my son his first big game animal. We were close last year, but a screw up on the stalk by moosin:oops:, foiled minimoosin's first attempt at his bear!! Minimoosin is using a 270 win with 140gr Swift Sciroccos, and I will be using the new 450 Marlin with 350gr Hornady FN's! I think a couple of weekend trips will have to be done this year, as I have a new tent to field test. So it will be in the mtns east of PG starting mid May, until we get a blackie or 2! Should be fun, if nothing else some quality family time with my boy!! Moosin

Going to use my new 338 with the new Vor-Tx Barnes ammo in 225gr. I'll probably do a scouting trip in 3 weeks or so to see if I can locate the big cinnamon boar I ran into last summer. If not then I'll probably wait until mid to late May to hunt seriously. I wan't too thrilled with the meat I got last year so if I don't run into last years cinnamon then I am going to head a good distance into the mountains to get a berry eater and see if the meat is more palatable so I don't have 200lbs of pepperoni again.

Would love to take a bear this year with my 8mm mauser, iron sights, but I think im dreamin' a little.

Can't wait for spring lake fishing and spring bear to start !

Spring bears are pretty preoccupied with eating so I think your idea of the 8mm is not at all dreaming as long as you can move reasonable quietly. You should be able to get withing 75 yards without any problem.

The wife got her core and Pal last summer, spent the fall slaying some grouse, but now she wants a bear! Bought her a sweet little 7mm-08. She has got it sighted in with 140g NP's. I have a griz draw, but my priority is getting her a blackie, first boar that presents an opportunity is gonna get it....I can already taste the pepperoni..mmmmmm

Should be interesting for me this year. I have never been bear hunting and will probably take my almost 2 year old dog that looks damned near like a bear with me for a couple of canoe rides followed by hikes, or just hikes by themselves. I will be carrying either a browning bbr in 7mm rem mag with el cheapo winchester 175gr cambodian tire specials or my model 94 winchester with a similar flavor bullet. Hopefully i get to use my pack this year as i shot my first deer close to the truck in the fall.

Couple 3-4 day backpacking trips around the Cheslatta Lake in late April/early May, as well as a 4 day scout in my grizzly MU up north. Never been in there so am making an early trip in on the snowshoes to check it out and maybe set up a camp or two. Be packing the Marlin 45/70. Mid to late May my dad and I are headed up for the grizz hunt for 12 days.
