So we went out for a little trial. Both of the dogs have been pulling the kids for months now on sleds. We entered them both in the Rondesvous Dog Pulls this yr, both got 3rd in their class.

Now we try this:

It looks like fun way to cover some ground in a hurry. I first heard about this a few years ago and thought my ridgeback would would be great at it. When my wife and I used to take her for walks up golden ears, she pulled so hard we would fight over who got to hold Jezebel's leash on the way up. She'd only pull with a collar on though. I tried hooking her up to a harness and she refused to pull at all. I'm sure we could've trained her to pull with the harness but we just had our son around that time and we didn't have much time for teaching an old dog new tricks.

Now she's 10 years old and although she acts like a pup when she's at the park, she pays for it the next day.

Our other dog is younger and full of energy and likes to pull but she's a jack russel.

Just happened to have the necessary glasses. Quite a different prespective. Reminded me of the 3-D movie, Charge at Feather River.

Damm dog had to whiz every 3 minutes or so, just like mine. Swear the dog has a 7 gal. bladder.

After the first few tries, both Diane and the dogs seemed to get the hang of it. Easiest way to get them going was for me to idle ahead a ways. They wanted to follow the truck, after a while, they decided that running in front was better, so I hung back and let 'em go.

I have been wanting to try skijoring for years. If I lived somewhere that actually had snow...I would have to get another dog and give it a go. Looks like an outright blast.

OK, some input from the Dog Guys, is this correct:

HIKE = Go, Run, Mush
GEEE = Left
HAAA = Right
WHOA = Stop
ON BY = Never mind that dog, keep going.
GOD DAMIT ANYWAYS = Leave the Squirrel alone, we're running here.

Round 2 went very well
I added a few Out Takes from the day to the end of this vid. Wife crashed pretty good the one time:shock:
Seems to be a whole lot of fun for everyone.

Looks like I have a couple commands wrong
Geee is right
Haaa is Left
