I'm heading to La Paz mexico for a holiday. A friend of mine has a small resort there, with a fishing charter. He says the yellow tail are very active right now.

They have been catching nice 25 to 50 pound yellow tail fish. can't wait . Has anyone fished there before?

Just got back a week ago! We went on an overnight trip. We caught two 40 lb yellowtail. Pretty fun to catch! The fishing keeps getting better and better. La Paz is way better than Cabo. Doesn't feel like mini America. Make sure to check as many restaurants out as you can. Amazing food and crazy cheap prices. Look for two burger joints. One is called the Shack and the other is Buffalito's. I can't really give you directions to where it is but it should be in one of the local maps there. Sorry about that got a bit off topic. Have fun!

A few years ago in March I fished around Loreto to the north.

The yellowtail had vanished due to massize schools of Humboldt squid taking over the area. Individual schools covered square miles, and attacked everything. Drop anything down into the water and within seconds several squid would be on it, then other squid would attack the squid that was hooked. It was Crazy!

We kept some of the small ones, 3-4 footers. Cut off the larger ones, 6-7 feet long. Great eating! Calamari rings 10" in diameter and 3/4" thick.

Pargo fishing is great too off LaPaz. The initial run beats the hel lout of a chinook of similar size
