It was a very short hunt this morning. My friend Paul had a cow draw for unit 7-08 and had been hunting by himself all week as I had to work. I told him I would come out today and see if I could help him find a lady moose.
We met at his place at 6:30 and headed off to one of my favorite hunting spots. When we reached the beginning of the road I asked Paul to stop for a nature call. He had to fill his coffe cup up anyway. We sat there for no more than 5 minutes just BS'ing. At 7:05 we turned all the lights off and started slowly down the road. We hadn't gone 50 yards when I spotted his cow. "Moose" I said and Paul replied, "I think it's a bull." We were looking at 2 different moose. In a matter of seconds the first shot was fired and a minute later she was on the ground. She dropped only 50 yards from the side of the road so the retrieval was relatively easy for a 70 year old man and a guy with a bad heart.
I still can't quite get the hang of posting picture, but it's in my gallery if anyone wants to have a look.
