Got it! So did my two co-conspirators! I've been up there gold mining, and liked the area, so we put in there, as I know some folks that know some folks.
(Hey, how does Sheep hunting start for the poor? :D )

Anyone with any tips, solid info, general advice. all is welcome.
I'll do a write up this fall.
I am quite certain it shall be EPIC!

WOOOOOOOOOOTT!!

bring a boat ,i dont know how many times i have been there and needed a boat , i have seen many sheep low down on the surprise lake rd in among the knobs so dont just blast through to get to the hills ,mind you i hunt there after oct so they are starting to get pushed down , i dont hunt moose there anymore since the gold mines kicked up again , put in for a caraboo tag to the are everywhere big herds up high in the snow ...good luck

The Dude

Boat's a good idea. Surprise lake is the Northern Boundary of 6-25 D, so I could hunt only on the Southern side of the lake shore. Fly rods are coming too. Good Grayling in Surprise Lake.
Looking into the caribou draw now.

Good on ya Dude! Congratulations! I have never been that far away in BC, so your on your own for advice, but if you want to borrow some sheepy reading material, I've got ya covered for books.

Other than that, the only secrets I've figured out are, persistance and glassing.

GOOGLE-GEEKS!!!

I want to know how to overlay my own boundary on the area I'm hunting, 6-25-D, so I know exactly where to concentrate searches and what not to bother with. Anyone know the best way to do this in Google earth?

Anyone ever hunt up Mt Keish? It's in the NE Corner of 6-25D, but nearish Teslin Lake, so might be accessible to boaters. If there's a sheep population there, it must be a pretty isolated one.

The Dude
03-18-2012, 07:07 AM
Who's the Biologist there now? I heard it was Rick M, but my lengthy email just got bounced back to me.

good news or bad ?
super double top secret ?

The Dude
03-19-2012, 09:56 PM
Good, but vague. Several folks have been very helpful via PMs, and I asked if one area pointed out to me was worthy of flying/packing in. He basically said yeah, there's sheep all over the place there. (Now legal RAMS, he didn't elaborate on :-) ) The bad news is, there's TWO GOs there. My hunting partner knows one, however, through business, and we're not A-holes as a rule, so we should be fine. I wanna hunt and not see other hunters, but with 65 tags given out, if even half of those guys show up, it's gonna be hard to earn your solitude.
The tips given were via PM, so I won't be too specific. If all goes well, however, expect a Super Duper Ultra Double Belted Magnum EPIC thread this fall.
Now......need a new camera, bag, tent..............

The Dude
03-28-2012, 12:47 AM
Bad news is, there's a big crop of illegal rams taken there. Actually in some years it equals or exceeds the legal rams taken. The Bio has seen an increasing trend of short rams taken, and says hunters are gonna have to learn to smarten up, or there's gonna be less tags. In the Area I'm tagged for alone, the GOS, GO, and illegal kills are roughly equal, at about 2-3 each group. These numbers do not include "Sustenance and Ceremony". *Ahem*
