Been saving this post for the off season, or just forgot to post it up till now lol. But this was from an early season hunt this past season in Region 8. It was a really fun weekend hunt with some buddies.
Not Much of a story to them but ill share. Me and Slyfox had not planned anything for this weekend but kinda last minute we decided to go away for the weekend with his dad, and possibly meet up with another buddy from work, he had been up in the merrit area on a solo fishing trip. So we got to our camp and set up and then me and Slyfox were ready to start walking and look for a mulie buck or 2. We walked up a few ridges and we started seeing deer popping up all over the place we would see 3 does then watch them for 5 minutes then we would turn around after those does had ran away and there would be more deer behind us, it had me goin i was getting very excited at this point so we kept walking and it couldnt have been more then 25 minutes and i spot 3 does on my right so we hunker down behind a big boulder and start lookin at em in the binos when all of a sudden Sly tells me theres a buck in another group to the left of them. I start looking across the horizon and i see the deer but i cant manage to spot the buck so hes lookin through his binos and i have my rifle pointed, bipod resting on this rock and my eye glued to the scope and then i finally find it its looking at the the other group of deer and is broadside to me so i confirm with Sly that it is the right deer and he assures me it is so i aim at the kill zone as still as i can be and then BOOOOOOOM!!!! i squeeze a shot off. The deer then leaps in the air and starts running, i had thought i missed it but i was positive my shot was good so we start trekking over to the deer about 150 yards from where i shot it and i start walking to where i think it ran to because i saw some of the does run this way, so im goin up a ridge getting quite tired and frustrated lol when all of a sudden i hear sly yell hey its over here dumby lol and now im happy i run over to him to see that the deer had ran the other way no more then 35 yards. I yelled yessssss and gave Sly a high five but then the work was about to start we cleaned him up and then had to drag him out to the road which took almost 2 hours up hill. but it was all worth it. It was like something out of a hunting dvd the way it all happened. Heres some pics of this Deer
