taxidermy advice on here is always fun to get, asking will get you lots of different opinions. I use Harley White in Kelowna but depending on where you re there might be someone local that does good work as well.

I'm going to be doing mine in the next couple of months..... Nice natural, relaxed pose on all fours.

How much space do you have?? If space is at a premium maybe look at a for where the bear is climbing up a rock with a good turn. Takes up less floor space and the height of the bear is more intimidating....which I like.

I just got back from the SCI convention in Vegas a couple of weeks ago and there was a ton of full mount Grizzly and Brown bear mounts. One thing I did figure out pretty quick is that guys seem to have a pretty hard time making the bears look "right". Most of the mounts looked kinda goofy. I'm assuming that most of the mounts there would be representations of the taxidermists best work, and by looking around there I'd suggest really shopping around before selecting a taxidermist. What I learned for myself was that if I ever shoot a grizz, it'll be a rug.

Do them up hanging from a meat pole.....not something you'd see everywhere. ;-) You have two, do one head up and one head down!!

If I ever shoot a decent bear with my bow, I'm gonna make him standing up holding my plasma tv.

Where in the north are you? I'm getting a live mount done at Rocky Mountain Taxidermy in Pouce. When I stopped by about 10 days ago, they had 3 in there they were finishing up on. They may be gone by now, but you never know. He'll at least have pictures of some they have done. Mine should be next on their list.

I like the standing up holding my TV idea, that would be different.

I like Harley Whites work...on sheep and bears..and yes grizzlies are tough a little off and they look goofey..

standing on 4 legs on a pedistal mount front inclined puts the bears head @ 5 foot or so makes the working end really visible.. sometimes the one paw slightly off the ground like he's caught in mid stride and is looking @ you..

good luck and congradulations..

I hear his name a fair bit and have actually been referred to him for getting some birds done.
But I've never actually handled any of his products.

You're in Abby, I'm in Langley......... What have ya got and is there a way that I can see them sometime???
