Quick winter, early thaw. Odds are they're out already in a few places. Got one on the Island last year, plan on going again. Ideally I hit some other spots. Myself and a few others have a chance to go outside Lytton. Went up there scouting for deer early in the season and saw what looked like King Kong. Until we heard her kid crying. Had to back off, but wondering if anybody knows any other spots up there or if it's worth the trip?

Also, any advice on what grain to use with a .308? It's a single shot, but I reckon it'll do the trick as I got the last one with a 30.06 in 180 Nosler partition.

If there's a moma there had to be a daddy right? If you've been scouting the area and your seeing big bears, it's probably a good place to start.

A 180 gr nosler partition will perform just as well from a 308 as it did from a 30'06.

Good to hear. You figure I should up the grain since it's a single shot rifle? Not saying I need two, but I'd like to be damn certain.

nothing wrong with a single shot 308 and any grain over 150 will do the trick.everything will die with 1 well placed shot through the heart/lung area.
as long as you don't hit a leg bone and place the shot correctly..

Right on. Shot placement is key, of course. Any ideas on where to head? I've got two picked out. People keep saying up the Squamish Valley....

I use a 200 gr RN out of my CZ 550 with a fairly hot load out of it. Not necessary for bear, but it worked good on moose for and so I leave it as is and don't juggle. It dropped my last bear like a sack o' spuds. That rifle/ammo combo is excellent out to around 250.
