Hey guys and gals,

Ducks Unlimited is looking for volunteers to help organize and run fundraising events. I've been a volunteer on the island for a number of years and it really is a lot of fun helping out. Areas that are currently needing attention are Langley, Surrey, North Vancouver, and Burnaby. Below is a run down on what it's all about and contact info for the fundraising manager in the area. If you do not see your town listed above, contact Tyler Olson at t_olson@ducks.ca and he can help you locate a chapter near you.

Thanks everyone,
LP

Becoming a Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) volunteer is a great way to meet people, share your talents, learn new skills, gain experience and have fun while supporting wetland conservation in Canada. If you are: an emerging event planner, a recent biology or business grad, retiree, business owner, nature enthusiast, or just enjoy meeting new people, then we have the need for your expertise in the following areas.
By joining a DUC volunteer chapter, you can get involved in:

DUC Dinner and Auctions- DUC's volunteer chapters host annual dinner auctions in their communities across Canada. With the support of a DUC fundraising manager, who supplies everything from tickets to merchandise, volunteers organize and put on these events to raise money for DUC's important wetland conservation work. Excellent for volunteers looking for experience in: event promotion and administration, entertainment coordination, audio/visual support, event program design and layout, database management, auction and raffle management, ticket sales and more.

Start a volunteer Chapter- No DUC Volunteer chapter in your community? Then take the lead and start one! Not only does DUC need more volunteers to help our existing events, but we need volunteers to start new chapters and hold new fundraising events. New events are currently being planned in Vancouver and surrounding areas and volunteers are needed.

Sealed Bid Auction- The sealed bid auction program (SBA) is a new and exciting fundraiser for DUC. SBA sites are placed in local businesses across Canada. They consist of a bid box and an easel to display a limited edition, framed DUC art print. People make a bid on the print and place it in the box. Once bidding closes, the print is sold to the highest bidder. Many SBA sites are volunteer-driven. DUC volunteers help to find potential SBA business sites, maintain relations with business owners/operators, choose and order prints that will be featured, change the display and gather bids.

Youth Education- DUC works hard to teach today's young people about the value of wetland habitats. Through programs like project webfoot, and Greenwing, youth from across Canada are put in touch with wetlands and environmental education. Perfect for aspiring biologists, bird enthusiasts and those passionate about wetlands. If you are looking to volunteer your time for the education of today's youth, contact us today for current opportunities.
