Actually - it's the first time I've ever looked for sheds. No luck finding antlers - but I did get a few nice pics..
I posted a thread earlier today about my drive up the hill to get above the fog: http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/showthread.php?78290-Anyone-been-hunting-lately.
The fog this morning was even uglier than yesterday, but I really needed to get Chilko out to burn off some energy, so up the hill we went. By the first hairpin we were already clear of the fog and into brilliant sunshine:

We drove a little higher up and set out for a short hike.

As usual, Chilko covered a lot more ground than I did. She had her nose to the ground most of the time.

Although she didn't find any antlers, it didn't take her long to discover this. Apparently the some of the deer around here shed their legs during the winter.

In addition to the deer parts, there was a ton of good sign. Lots of beds, tracks and something that looked like chocolate covered raisins.

Chilko seldom gets far away and always comes back when I call her. At one point, I lost track of where she'd gone and it took longer than usual for her to come back. I think she may have spooked a deer out of it's bed and followed it a ways without barking. The snow around this bed looks like it's occupant took off in a hurry:

Thanks, Tikka. I hope your day turns out as nice as it was here.
On with the story.. Found a little more of the deer that met it's demise this winter:

It could be that a cat took this one down, or perhaps coyotes.

With Chilko running around, I didn't see any deer until I got back to the truck. About 100 yards from where I parked, we noticed a doe and fawn in the trees.
The fawn is well hidden in this picture:

Shortly after, mom decided to cross the road:

Junior wasn't far behind. I had the camera ready and expected to, at least, get a picture of the little one with it's tail up in the air. My timing was good and this turned out even better than I expected:

Unfortunately, there's a bit of blur - but I can't be too picky.
A short time later, we were back in the frost and fog. I wonder if this raptor had any idea what a great day it was missing out on?
