It seems the winter blues are upon most of us. The Okanagan has been blanketed in fog for several days now - so I decided to take the dog for a little drive up the hill to see what the world looks like from higher up. Here's the view:

I managed to spot and video a couple of obvious and less obvious mulw deer:

That's about all I've got for today. You guys can go back to debating politics and whatnot.

Daughter and I went to look for some dogs on Sunday. Never found any but did see a bunch of whities, cougar and wolf tracks.
Looks like we should have climber higher like you coach so we could have soaked up some rays.

What is that bright orb in the sky in your photos?!

Speaking of hunting, got a call from a buddy with a Christian Valley elk draw wanting to go tomorrow, unfortunatly I'll be sitting in a dentist chair mid day.

Thanks, Peashooter. Its a Canon SX30IS. 35x optical and 140x digital zoom. I had it maxed out on those deer at the top of the ridge.

I was out on both days weekend and tonight looking for yotes around Kamloops. Nothing. Didn't see or hear anything. Three days in a row with no yote love. Very discouraging. I talked to a guy and he said they are mating now and probably preoccupied so maybe that's the case. I did call in a family out hiking with my mojo and coyote howls on Sunday. They were on the ridge above me and I could here them saying"hold the dog, where are they?". Then they walked down towards my decoy and I stood up in the ghille suit. They were not impressed with me and my rifle.

I know, as I was walking away I was thinking that. They looked freaked out. Mom, dad and two young girls, dog. It gets better. When I got back to the road three guys stopped to shoot the shit, they were hunting yotes and all winter camoed up as well. Just so happens a CO comes by and he stops and throws the lights on and checks all our licences and their guns. They family had got back to their mini van by now and were heading home and there we all are, lights flashing and the CO is holding the other guys shot gun. They stared straight ahead and drove by. They might not hike for a while. Thought I was far enough out there to be alone but I guess not.

Went out on Saturday on my own looking for rabbits on snowshoes. Found a great snowmobile trail which my 10yr-old and I cross-country skied up on Sunday. Was a beautiful weekend to be out and about, on our Sunday adventure my daughter and I didn't find any rabbits to shoot but we did find some great areas to set a snare line. Spent Sunday evening making snares with my daughters as part of their bushcraft/wilderness skills training. They love being in the bush doing stuff with me so I'm milking it for as long as I can.

Going out to tunkwa lk this weekend with my 4yo son. It'll be his first time hunting so I hope we can bag a dog or maybe even a cat if we're real lucky.
If not I understand the ice fishing is pretty good there.

Pack of wolves have been hanging around the property the last few days (beaver fsr/willow river), going to give them a try if they will give me a day off work!
