Here's a video of a decent sized bear I saw on the Douglas Lake Ranch a couple years back:

I'm posting it to get a conversation started about spring bear hunting. Who wants to start things off?

Nice looking Bear! I saw one very similar in color and size last spring in 8-8 but never had a chance to get a shot off. thanks for sharing the video and getting the itch for bear going. Getting closer!

Thanks, Patdel. That video was taken in July. You can tell from the bear panting that it was a pretty hot day. Only another three months until things get rolling. I'm looking forward to it.

Pretty good swagger to his walk and great color. I'd shoot him in a heartbeat.

I'm thinking this spring, if I do shoot one, it'll be with my open sight 30/30 or with my bow. I've shot so many now that I think I need to make it a bit more sporting. So far, the winter has been fairly mild here on the island and I'm hoping it'll stay that way and we get an early spring. Last spring came a few weeks late making for a shorter season and less areas to access due to snow pack in the hills where I hunt.

Coach- Looking forward to seeing more video of your bear hunts this season coming up. Hopefully you get a crack at that big chocolate you had the missed opportunity on last year.
