So quick little story,

I shot many a sprig in my day. However few that meant as much as this one. 1. it was shot in Sw ontario where we shoot very few a year and some years dont even see one. 2. It was Shot on the last day of the season last year and 3.I shot him with my old man and we dont get to hunt often any more now we live on other sides of the world. Full colour and a little over 4 inch sprig. Most people that know me, know that it takes alot for me to mount a duck. I only have one other duck mounted. So it was kind of a special bird. I had him mounted in Ontario by a fellow who has done good work for me and few buddies.

However this time, i wasnt very happy. The mount is fine but the neck was dried out a bit much and is skinny. Its growing on me a bit and not as bad as i remember when i first saw it last month when i was back there. He gve me a discount but that still doesnt fix it. lol. THe frayed tips on the right wing happened during transport, but i'll fix it up

Great story Lorne, and not a bad looking mount, I have seen far worse.

I like to consider that the fact that a mount does not have to be the "perfect specimen" but rather a reminder of the event that took place to harvest the bird. Just remember that every time you look at that mount, even if its not picture perfect, it will be that reminder of a great day in the field.

Another angle would be cool - I think its neck looks squashed or flattened out.
But I know SFA about pinners...

Agree with Chessieguy. A bird that has a back story and a meaning to you is still wall worthy. to tell the story or remind yourself of that day is reason enough.

I'd display a bird with a story like that for sure buddy.
