Walk your butt up to the outdoor store (I forget the name) and get a Lansky. I bought mine there a few years back, you won't be dissapointed!!

maybe the guy doesn't know how to properly sharpen it.

If you're not sure about how it's done, or you're worried about putting too steep or not steep enough angle on the edge, dont do it yourself.
Might save you some bucks, but not worth ruining your knife if you aren't sure what you're doing.

I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt as well ... just stating in case :D ,

with a Lansky.. you cant screw it up. It will be the best edge you have ever had.. sharper than you have ever felt.
Hands down the best knife sharpening system I have ever seen. well worth the price.

^good post^
Take your knife to someone that knows what they are doing if you don't know what you're doing. Once you know what your doing, it's easy.

Look in the yellow pages or try google for someone in your area.

Get a Lansky. I've never used anything else that even comes close.

The only knife you cut yourself with is a dull knife.

I used to think that way, till I cut my wrist this spring doing up a bear :frown:

As far as learning how to use a Lansky, it's super easy. Check their web site, you'll see what I mean.

Good.

Learnign to sharpen a knife is basic knowledge that every oen shoudl have.

I'm old school and use a stone/steel, since I've been doing iot for years, but I've often thought about buying a Lansky, since it's dead easy and quick.8-)

Lansky's are good, but the double sided DMT is small, easy to carry for touch-ups(rarely needed),and leaves an incredible edge.I have not found another sharpener that I like better. It's also available as a 2-sided bench sharpener, but I prefer the pocket model.

Which Lansky model do you guys use, the standard or diamond hones?

I just have the standard 3 hone kit, but am thinking of getting the extra fine and super sapphire hones for scary sharp broadheads.
