My first year of hunting 2011

My 2011 started in 2010 getting my PAL. Then in early may I finished my CORE and went to get hunting licsence the next day. Spent money to outfit myself .270 win savage and bear and deer tags. My buddy and I went on a bear hunting tour to merritt princeton and all areas in between. Finally at about 7:00 pm we take this beauty http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k515/kingfisher61/IMG_2542.jpg then I was hooked. Had to get my own that I am still hoping to get it this spring.
Fall opening saw us up in the 100 mile area which ended without seeing any bucks at all we did see a few does cow moose and calfs and this guyhttp://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k515/kingfisher61/IMG_2768.jpg I went to same area thankgiving weekend still no luck. Then the grey cup weekend last chance hunt region 2 any buck. We left home at 4:30 arrive 40 km in bush at 7:30 am through pouring rain puddles washouts and rocks on road. We spot a buck 100 Ft from truck standing on road above us. We had to wait to identify it as a shooter. After about 15 mins my buddy says its a buck shoot it. so pull out gun that i thought was ready to go and damn no bolt. Rookie mistake so my buddy lets me use his 300 wm. Double lung shot and i have my first ever very happy even though not huge tastes great. Never mind the scope mark on my forehead. Good post. I just turned 40 has only been hunting 3 years. Nice to see I am not the only one starting this late in the game. Not that I'm really old, just older.
