Has anyone been into sandifer lake near Kemano in the past couple of years. There is a road the goes into the lake from Kemano but from what I have read on the internet it is no longer maintained, has some wash outs and fallen down trees. Is it still possible to drive the Sandifer FSR with a quad?

you might be able to get to Sandifer from Tahtsa lake. Drive in from Houston/Burns lake and take your quad in on a boat. Road is in real bad shape, drove it once 21 years ago from Kemano. Excellent goat country and you may luck out and get a moose as well. 257Stew

I have been into Tahtsa Lake before when I had a goat tag but was under prepared and ended up leaving without even seeing a goat. It sure is beautiful in there though. We had come down logging roads from Houston which were in excellent shape at the time because of huckleberry mine. I was looking at sindifer lake because of the open goat season in 6-3.

Road from Houston will still be in primo shape. Just need to be prepared, and you need a quad on the Sandifer lake area. When we drove the road it was May and the D9 had cleared the road. We would stop and climb the snow banks and look up the hill and goats everywhere, and in gun range to boot. If you are a die hard, it would be a good hunt for sure. I do not know about its condition but there is a cabin at sandifer lake. Worth looking into if you are into that sort of thing.

Used to drive from Kemano to Sandifer lake years ago. In september it would be normal to see 30 to 40 goats right from the road.

Lived in Kemano from 73 to 88. Guided for 10 years. Really good Goat country. Requires transportation from Tahtsa Lake. Good cabin at S Lake. Lots of Black & Griz. Bears. Great country, have fun & bring your fishing rod. LEH for moose 6:04 & open in 6:03.

I would love to hunt there some day, these days there isn't the long season for moose that there once was it is the same as the rest of the southern Skeena now.
