Bear with me as I'm trying to post some pics via photobucket. Just returned from another Mexican hunt for Coues and Mule Deer. It's my second trip in as many years and I really enjoy it down there.
There hadn't been much rain and deer were few and far between. I never saw a Coues and passed on a high 150's 4 X 4 muley. Last year I passed on plenty of bucks hoping for the magic 200 class and this year there just wasn't the action of last year.

Of course the week after I left they took three north of 170. Still it's great fun, the guides are great to work with and the food is exceptional. This year I took some rabbit in distress Sceery calls with me and managed to kill one coyote and educate a couple more

This fella ran to within 19 yards when I tapped him with my .300!

I'll post this and see this work. Otherwise I'll have to get some help here.

I had wanted a Javelina and was able to take this one with my 22.250. It was the only one I saw but he is muey viejo. (Very old)
I'll have him life sized on a sand base with some cactus' if i can find some.

He has a distinct collar. Smelled like a skunk though. Can't believe they eat these things.

Looks like a blast. That's a hunt I would live to go on(Sonora mule deer). How warm was it there?

I put the sunblock on every morning as it was nudging 30 every day in cloudless skies. Didn't want any sunburn as it can really mess up a good hunt or golf trip.

Way, way, way too much! Especially as I'm now 0 for 2 on deer down there.

I'm starting to realize that trophy mule deer are one of the hardest animals to take now. In the last three years I've hunted guided in Utah twice and guided in BC twice and now twice in Mexico and have yet to do a "Grip-n-Grin.". Sure makes you appreciate the good ones when you kill one or see others take nice bucks.

Sweet trip David! Definitely a good way to get out the Canadian north in the winter! Congratulations on a wicked Collared Peccary! A nice addition to the trophy room!

As far as big mule deer go, I can imagine they are not behind every tree. I still have to shoot even a 4 pointer!

Who did you go with????
All those guided hunts could have bought you a desert sheep!!!!

'All those hunts' compared to a 'desert sheep' ??? No contest

Attago David. Hope you weren't just taken for a walk. Good reports from that area ?

You didn't get to try any of the meat?? I think if I had the chance I would have to try it at least once.....;-)

David, if you have the money, and like guided hunts....why dont you book with the mozzy boys on the arizona strip??? If there was ever a deer hunt, that would be it!

I should be able to draw a Kaibab archery muley any year now and might use them for assistance. Should be able to knock 5G's off the price that way!
