not 160 but close, 157, shot last 20 minutes of the last day of the season in 2007 :) , was watching a group of does when this guy bolted from about 200 yards left of them and i pulled off 3 shots, hitting him twice on the run at approx 130 yards! killing shot took out his spine at mid point on his back as he hit the tree line, he was hit mid stride and slide 30 feet down a hill at the tree line and was piled up under a small spruce!! shared a great day with my brother!!

Hey muleychaser, What did that big bugger with velvet eventually score? Classic PIG DREAMBUCK

He ended up scoring 195 5/8 net and 200 5/8 gross. Broke the 200 mark by the skin of my teeth...lol. That was the best tasting deer I ever ate to boot, Thank got for that opening day alpine snowstorm that day. I took him at around the 5500 foot mark, right were the snow stopped.

The first rack in the bottom picture and the other 2 pictures above are all flirting with the 160 net mark. My good luck charm always seem to be leaving thye camera at home so I don't have very many field photos of my deer.

Thanks. Start a thread for 150 class bucks and I will have 5 more to show you. There was awhile when i was a 150 class magnet, I started watching them instead of shgooting them and lo and behold the stories were correct, there were bigger bucks around usually....lol.

Interior buck (sorry that's the best I'm gonna do we hunt the same area every year)11x 9 scored 211. it looks like he had some kind of infection in his left antler and it grew kinda funny and has a big hole in it,might have lost 10" but is very unique and very tall and wide. 39" outside spread. The shakin really started when he stood up and I saw how wide he was and I was trying to count points and figure out if he was standing with his head in branches or what the hell was going on, then he took a step forward........and that was it. no ground shrinkage there, walking up the closer I got the bigger they got, what a feeling!!!

Bud,
I've been told that happens when they damage the antler in the velvet and the flys get in it and lay their eggs in the broken tissue. It definately adds character to an already super buck. I just love those big wide bucks. Congrats! Must be a pleasure to look at that buck every day hanging on your wall.

Biggest buck I ever saw, I shot . Scored 174 because of penalties. This was the size of a large elk. 27inch spread, over 7inch bases

whats with the buck in the snow with the ax? was he caught in an slide or a kill buried, and frozen in?

That year there was a big cold snap and the ice was piling up at the bridge slowing the water behind the jam. With a series of loud CRACKS it then froze rapidly all the way up the river. A day or two later I went for a walk along the river and saw a small piece of tine sticking out of the ice. I thought it was a small shed, so I walked home and got my axe. I didn't have a clue there was a whole deer attached to that small tine when I started chopping. I betcha it took close to an hour of chopping and chipping the ice to get it to the point you see in the picture. I assume the buck was swimming the river when it froze up quickly from the ice jam below.

Dana, Im sure I have the shed off the left side of this deer, PM me and I will send you the pic

I found that lion killed deadhead back in 2003. I'd estimate he was on the ground at least 5 years. That would put him alive in the late 90's. Is the shed from that time period?

Haha, I love hunting whities and do what I can to enhance the herd - by eating a doe. Eat a doe and grow a big buck is my motto!

I was fortunate that there was an old skid road only 50 yards from where he fell that I could get my old Chevy to (alders don't bother my old Chevy). Absolute downpour all morning, I was soaked to the ass, cold and getting discouraged, and this guy peeks out of the timber 5 minutes after the rain stops when I have a warm truck and hot coffee on my mind. Sometimes, it just works out. :D

Yea Hubbard would be mad

People can be unbelievable with their assumptions, inuendoes, back handed comments and digs. It is embarrassing how quick people get their hate on in this site. We all know that when someone says something that another doesn't share the same point of view on ..... the argument begins.

Are we trying to set a new all time low by getting on someone for not saying anything, for not wading in.
That's like attacking Switzerland. Pathetic.

Husky, the three below the mounted Mulie were taken 3 days in a row 4 years ago. The one in the back of the truck is a buddies, it is way over 200 n/t. The one in the sun with the cut blocks in the background is also a buddies, it and the wet racked one are both around 180. Snareman, like the name implies.....I been at it awhile. Just wish I had more Big Whities, they are alot harder to come by than big mulies. TSW.......WOW ! FD that is a classic beauty of a Whitey nice job. Pro Guide.......did you shove an airhose up that first ones butt ? Like the Dude mentioned earlier, some of my favourite trophies are not my biggest animals, but based on the overall hunt that took place. BUT.......I am really enjoying seeing some of these monsters. Gotta love the Horn Porn on this thread. Keep the pics coming! It helps pass the time waiting for the summer scouting season.

As for those that like to keep their pics to themselves, I totally get that. The internet has created a new 'wannabe' trophy hunter that can't do the hard work for themselves and try to glean as much info as they can from the true hard-core trophy deer hunters. It is totally understandable that some of those hard-core hunters hold tight-lipped.

It's bucks like the Dewdney Buck and the Bannister Buck that inspire me. I know there has to be at least one 300 incher living somewhere in this great province. If they can grow them still in AZ and CO, we can grow them still here in BC.

When one looks at the BC Record Book, more monster nontypicals come from the Koots than anywhere else. If a 300 incher is indeed living somewhere in this province, Region 4 is highly likely where it would be.

Glad to see not everyone is afraid of the chasers, it would make for a pretty lame site without seeing displays like this on here. If you are not giving directions, and keeping background scenery to a minimum it is not that big of a deal. Besides that, most who would do it that way would never have the determination and the dedication to stay with it hard enough or long enough to ever be much of a ( percieved ) threat. A lot of the satisfaction ( for me anyway ) is figureing it out myself. Then again, my knees are getting pretty much shot, so the hardcore days are coming to a close. Maybe that is why my give a shit meter is acting up. Besides that my wall is full.

Old Koot - Hard to believe that wall of display. Not even Kirt Darner could have possibly killed that many crankers.

Is Chuck Norris your hunting partner?

Blackbart,

You are wrong ! That is exactly who killed them. These pics were taken the year he went down in flames......about 5years later than he should have. They were quite amazing to see upclose . I hope he is still grounded.

oldkoot,
KD went down in flames yet again a couple years ago. This time with more of a kick than B&C could ever give him. Poaching and theft can make your wall look big, but at what cost? Serious Jail time when you are in your late 60's is a great legacy to leave your grandchildern. :)

Dana what did that buck score?

The Dewdney Buck scores 339 and change. Ranks #2 in the world. The entry score was in the 380's. When it went to Panel they couldn't get the same score twice, so they settled on 339. A buck like that is a scoring nightmare for a measurer.

Darner eh, one hell of a collection of bucks. Was he shootin them after the season or ???

IMO, Darner probably killed a few legit bucks himself. If you read his book, the guy did know trophy muleys, but....the one that got him kicked out of the B&C was actually one he stole. It was actually already entered into the B&C some 20-30 years previous and it was stolen and suddenly Darner shows up with a so-called new buck absolutely identical. I've seen the pics and there is no way a buck can grow the exact same antlers right down to the little bumps above the burr some 20-30 years later. Darner had also been caught trying to enter a Jaguar skull as a cougar skull. Since B&C punted him he's been caught poaching and has been caught stealing live wild elk and then moving them to his 'ranch' where he was going to sell hunts. Several Bighorn heads were seized that were found in his truck that were stolen during late night B&E's at taxidermy studios. Most theorize that many of those deer heads were stolen off of old barns, shot at night or shot in the winter range long after the season was over. The guy was just a classic dirtbag.

Makes you wonder what goes wrong in someones head when they try and pass someone elses sucess off as their own, trying to cheat the system to make yourself look better.

I have a couple real dandy bucks here that I wish i could say I shot but I wouldn't ever dream of it, thought never crossed my mind.

Makes you hope he's the only dishonest mulie fanatic that is around, but guaranteed he's not. Also makes you wonder how many others out there are less than honest about their sucess.

Ive heard more than one occasion of someone shooting an animal with a rifle and posing in the pictures and saying it was shot with a bow!

When I was at that show, I was with a friend of mine who was a wildlife tech. a real facts and figures guy that remembers almost every stat or number that has crossed his path. I could not believe some of the dispicable things that came out of Darners mouth, especially in a public setting. I was relaying my disgust in this guy to my buddy. He agreed with me and says there is more to it than that. He said that when Darner said where and when he shot some of those bucks there was not an open season or the season was already closed. I would never doubt my friend when it came numbers. Darner never did show many in the field shots. He should have been jailed for a long time and had Loyd Mcman for a cell mate so the could brag up there adventures to each other. I never heard about the latest stuff. I guess once a dirtbag always a dirtbag. He did give us one good lesson though. Even if you are getting divorced be nice to your lady. He wasn't... and that is what took him down the first time.

His second wife went down with him on his latest adventure. I can't remember if she actually got jail time but there were some hefty fines. ;)

IIRC I found that shed in Feb of 04. It had been on the ground for at least 5 years given the shape it was in. Tried in vain to find the match.

Here's a Kelowna buck from the Good Ol' Days. This buck was killed by a Kelowna CO by the name of Waldo Maxson. There is now a subdivision where this buck was killed.
