Hey Guys,

I'm wondering if anyone knows much about elk sheds and what time period they would normally drop in the Okanagan area? I've been watching a heard and they still seem to have all theirs, hoping to scoop some sheds when they drop! If anyone has some experience with this I'd really appreciate knowing when to expect them to shed! I've heard they're later than deer?

Thanks!

Have picked up sheds as early as mid March and have seen many with bone still on in May .

Yeah, March - April from what i've seen. Seems the big guys drop first. Things that have worked well for me are to walk fence and ditch lines, seems the impact of landing after a jump can be enough to knock em off. Also found lots up on the hills out on little benches which act as good bedding areas that give them a good line of sight below.

I have picked up fresh elk sheds as soon as the middle of March but the prim time when they really start dropping them is mid April ,I find that the big bulls drop there head gear earlier then that of smaller bulls ,I fould 4 matching sets of elk sheds in mid April last year..
