Hey HBC,

well me and a buddy went out for about a 5km hike thismoring just to see if anything has stated to shed their antlers yet, tons of fresh scrapes but did not find anything yet, but they must be workin hard to loose them with the amount of fresh scrapes where we were, but while we were walking down a little trail that came into a nice clearing i spotted movement out in the clearing, i brought my binos to my eyes and said to my buddy "theres an ELK!", when i moved to a spot where i could see a bit better with out being in the complete open, i realized that there was a $hit load mor then just one there was between 50 and 60 may be even more, im sorry im not able to post pics of this heard cuz i did not bring my camrea simply cuz i didnt think we would see anything, but i have learned my lesson now always carry my camrea when out hiking and its not hunting season, i didnt know we had heards like that where im from, i knew we had heards in the 20s but i didnt think we had those kind of heards

You should do a minimum of ten kilometers if you plan on hunting in a ways off the roads for big bucks.

i never said i got tired, and i know of a big buck where i was hiking today, only reason why we came back to the truck after walkin only 5k from the truck was cuz there was nothing shedding yet, id say another month and it will be good, and trust me i know you have to go far from the road to find nice ones, i have found my fair share of big sheds, as for the people who think they know where i was, keep thinking cuz i can promise you, you have no idea where i was haha,

Jelvis, how many spots can you walk 10km straight and not hit a road? Even if there was a lot of areas 10km from a road, all bucks cross roads, even the big boys. That statement of "having to hike 10km from a road" to get a big buck is a little far from the truth IMO
