Saskatchewan is your "holy grail" for hunting, and by the way, there are jobs going begging. The Premier is off to Ireland for a job fair, looking for Immigrant workers.

I grew up in Victoria, worked in the Kootenays, Okanagan and Vancouver - moved to Saskatoon 25 years ago and never found a reason to leave. Saskatoon is booming.

We have the best summer weather for gardening since I lived in the Okanagan. Only downside - oh.... it's minus 36 this morning.

if he's young why not try out a few places and decide for himself. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the above option, what might be more important is real estate and jobs

I also vote for Saskatchewan. Lots of jobs there too right now with the oil and gas industry, cheap housing. You'll wear out your guns hunting out there.

You can buy a house in Sask for the price of a down payment in BC

That a difficult question to answer. Lots of good pockets of hunting from the Western Arctic to the 49th Parallel. I guess one has to look and take other factors into account as well, like quality of cultural life, shopping, travel and diversity of educational opportunities for the offsprings etc ? Taking those factors into account I could vote for Okanagan Valley as well as the Cranbrook area. If earning good money is an important factor, by all means get a job in the energy sector, regardless of sub-zero climate, as long as you can bring your guns along and use them. However, lots of those remote workplaces will not allow you to bring and use your guns.

Good and bad everywhere, Sask has jobs right now but a semi socialist commy government always on the fringe and stinky water, Alberta is a mix of Sask and BC without the sales tax but expensive living currently and winters suck ass, BC you have to deal with the budgies and pot smokin left wing contingent (sorry Bartell) but more crown land than the other 2 provinces together - private land hunting is never a requirement, like I said, good and bad everywhere. I have ties to all 3 provinces and would like to live in BC with Alberta tax rate and Sask people.

I second that. Fort St. John and Fort Nelson are hard to beat for outdoor activities as mentioned in your quote. But Fort Nelson is very isolated so my vote goes for good ol' Fort St. John for hunting, fishing, quadding, boating, horseback riding, hiking and camping. NE BC is the Serengeti of North America!!!

Bowhunter Alberta hands down. Still have a decent verity of game, Deer hunting is better than BC, Good amount of crown but easy to get permission on private, Most of the time not much driving involved.

Rifle hunter BC is better. Long general seasons, large verity of game, Lots of crown

Personally for the hunting Alberta has it is better quality but you loose some variety that you have in BC and shorter rifle season. Myself personally the only 2 prov I would live in is BC or Alberta

If you aspire to hunt "horned" game like goats or sheep, the BC is your only choice. For antlered game, Alberta kicks ass. For waterfowl, Saskatchewan rocks. Lots of flaky people in BC, but the hunting keeps me here.

Nicola valley of course, A lake a day as long as you stay, tons of hunting areas from grasslands to alpine. Amazing sledding in the mountains, doesn't get to cold or warm, little city life but has kamloops or kelowna close enough to do shopping, i love it here.

When you pick a spot let your roots grow deep. Any area you know personally for thirty years is the best place to be.

Don't anyone tell me about flaky politics in Saskatchewan. I moved from BC thinking that the divisive politics seen in BC could never be found elsewhere. Yup, you get it....provincial politics bring out the loony fringe in both provinces.
However, you will not find more welcoming people than the people of rural Saskatchewan.
