The 1st antler was found during deer season Nov.22 .After some warm weather melted most of the snow I went back to the area January 2nd and after looking around for about 20 minutes I found the 2nd side about 100 yards away in some willows.

I have been having a hard time finding any new sheds lately. Then I found this guy yesterday with blood still on the snow white base so you don't get much fresher than that. I also found Bill Braskii's back pack in the middle of nowhere.

I have found them as early as the end of Nov and have seen them still packing middle March. Yes you can pick them up and keep them. If they are naturally shed antlers no permits or paperwork is required. I will be targeting them next week I hope to have some pictures soon. My partner picked up a small paddle last week and I have found a dozen muley sheds in the last couple weeks.

It looks like I may be living in the Fort Saint James area for the season,is this area renown for moose shedding,I don't know anything about moose Yet!I do know that red deer are vary migratory and there are specific areas that yield allot of cast antler where I was guiding in Scotland, problem was they eat them quicker than you can find them, after the calcium I guess. Thanks for the heads up on the rules,I won't be shooting one but will keep my eye to the ground(and over my shoulder, every where actually,I don't know about those beers of yours)

So this is what I found while out scouting for turkey today. The 2 sheds were found within about 15 feet. I am guessing that they are not a pair as the size different is pretty noticable. But what amazed me so much is the brow tines, they are the biggest I have seen on a 5 point. I know where I am going after whities this fall.

The other pic is what looks like a wolf track to me. I was not near any farms or housing so I figured that ruled out a dog, and the size is bigger than a coyote. I placed a 25.06 cartridge next to the track to show the size.

Thats what I thought at first but i forgot to mention that the amount of fading on both antlers is pretty simular, and that either have not been attacked by mice and those little buggars but they could be the same deer, you never know.

I have been out for a few hikes lately and I am still coming across the odd older shed but nothing fresh for a while now. The ticks are making it pretty uncomfortable to hike around. I have lost count now of how many I have had on me. Getting pretty close to 15 so the tick to shed ratio is getting a little high for my liking. Heres a few pics from the last few weeks.

10 mule deer sheds today, 2 matching pairs, All chewed even the brownies. F'ing bushrats! Guess I got to go sooner..... still plenty of snow in the trees. They where all found between 1450-1700 meters. Picked 10 ticks of me too, thats my personal record!

How about some pics? Where are you hunting Husky? Reg 8? You're finding them way higher then I am.

I found a nice set the other day. Very happy to find these. Seems the bigger the sheds, the closer they are together. These guys were no more than 50 ft away from each other. I NEVER seem to find the match for the dink sheds. I guess if your a big mulie having that weight hanging off one side of your head is pretty annoying. The g2 is broke off and chewed up on the right side but the left side is pretty good.

I'm in the EK of region 4. I took some pics but it was on my I-phone and I had it on movie mode, lol so they are crappy. Lots of them where right in the bushes, the one that leaves stay green in the winter, the leaves curl ( can't remember the name). Only 2 where fresh and they were both chewed already.

I would be happy too! Those are very nice! The area I waas in was also there rutting area, they did not migrate futher than that. So I could also hunt it late season :)

Boxwood? Oregon Grape? Grape is the one looks like Christmas Holly.Ooops, winter festival holly.

I google those suggestions, but it does not look like either. They are about knee high and don't have points on the leaves like holly. I see it a lot where a fire has been, and always in mulie wintering country. I don't really know if they even eat it?

It's likely snowbrush which is a ceanothus. Especially if you're in the Koots.

I believe you are correct, the ones i speak of leaves curl so much they almost touch. I finally found a matching pic on google, also was up there last night and they are looking like they are gonna flower.

I've got permission to shed hunt a certain farm. Aparently the farmers use this exact method with tractor tires when prepping the fields in the spring! Sometimes they make about 2 or 3 calls a day to the tire repair shop to send a service truck out to the farm which is a 20 minute drive in one direction. So yeah, they have no problem with people who want to shed hunt their land!

As per regulation this dead head was left in the bush for the mice. Its a hard life for a two point out there. Found a bunch of them this year.

This nice little pair did come home with me as well as a few others. Nothing to make Dana jealous but nice to find just the same. Sitting side by each on the game trail. So much for my thinking that little sheds are never together. Good news is the tick swarm seems to be over. Bad news is they have been replaced by skeeters! Don't forget the muskol if going for a hike.

Found these matching moose sheds last weekend while bear hunting. Approx 200 m down a steep clear-cut in the pouring rain. 6 feet apart. A pretty amazing find. What would he score?
