Well our favourite duck hunting fields were frozen to the edges... so our chances getting another bag like last week was limited, so we headed off to our timber marsh!

We saw every weather pattern in the book today... wind, no wind, rain, sleet, snow, hail, overcast, and sunshine.. it was chaotic!

Ducks are certainly getting wary at this time of year, and the weather was certainly not at its optimum for freshwater hunting... even the river that cuts through the land was flowing outrageously fast from the snow melt on the mountains... but we still managed a nice bag of lards!!

Now notice the abnormal sized drake mallard on the far left of that pic... IT WAS HUGE!! Biggest duck that I have ever shot! And the sucker was a really good weight too!

A little size comparison, lol...

Had a blast out there today. And folks be sure to take advantage of the remaining of the season... cuz you have 6 days left!

Cheers, longshot jr.

I wouldn't want that big boy falling out of the sky on top of me! Nice looking bag for a days work.

Good work longshots. That is a huge mallard for sure.

Great looking hunt. Something I wonder how those big guys can fly but they do.

They are rare but definitely neat mallards to shoot. This one I remember was circling the spread in a flock of about a dozen mallards, and I could tell from the silhouette it was like 50% bigger then the rest.

Nice haul! The switch was definitely turned on yesterday. Hopefully today is the same.
