The taxidermist called today and said he got my cape back and its time to pick a pose for my shoulder mount. Just looking for pics and ideas as i cant decide what i want to do. I keep flip flopping between straight on buggling,or head turned and buggling. any pics you post are greatly appreciated:-D

Head turned you are pretty much limited to where you mount it due to the angle of the face.
Straight on can go anywhere and have the same effect.

Having said that, I am partial to the turned shoulder look.

That is epic....Personally I like a closed mouth with a slight turn. You are always waiting for them to do something. When done bugling, you are stuck with that pose and could get sick of it quick.... Just my 2 cents.

I'm more of a fan of closed mouth elk, but I think either way the turned head shows off an elk better. Straight seems a little boring unless there is some sort of tilt, turn, etc..

Here are some pics of my bull on a Mckenzie form with alteration to turn him slightly more than standard....

U should just give it to your good buddy who helped drag it out of the bush. Lol then u don't have to worry about it.

This is my red stag. An elk could be done quite similar. Something different though.

Not a fan of the turned head..... A believer in the pedestal though.

IMHO, I like this the best.
Straight on/forward.

How you'd display it would dictate whether a pedestal would be an option....

I had the same idea with my 07 bull. I wanted the slightly better (left) side out, and a bit of a head roll down left, to help highlight the right side in "back", so I asked Ray to make mods on a left turn shoulder mount, which he did. I love the results. Notice the eye detail in the shop pics below:

And at home....it's the only pic I have uploaded...will have to try and find a side shot.
