Greetings to all fisherman, im fairlly new to fly fishing and was wondering if any of you seasoned guys can give me any rivers or creeks to head too, to try my luck! Hoping to get out more in some rivers or creeks this spring rather than lake fishing most of the time. The only rivers/creeks i have tried last year were the kettle river (with lots of success, but it is just to far to drive evrey weekend from kelowna) and the shushaup river witch is also a long drive to go fishing weekly! Any info/tips is awesome, and if you were wondering. yes i do have chest waders :-D (Keep in mind not looking for a honey hole, just a spot with some action ) oh! And have any of you guys fished wilkinson creek? Thanks-
Hogan

If you like creek and river fishing the central ok is probably the worst place to live.
The two places that you mentioned are worth the drive.....just go less often.

There's no such thing as spring creek fishing around here. They don't open till July 1st. But, try mill creek out by the airport. Lots of fish. Rainbows and Brookies. Not huge but lots of them. If you want to go fish OK lake, you are more then welcome to come out on my boat.

I went to college in Kelowna in the mid/late 1980's and I used to flyfish all the time. I used to find that AT LEAST the upper Kettle was well worth the drive, but in a pinch Mill was worth it (don't know about that now, as the development has made the whole region almost unrecognisable). Have you thought of Mission? I also used to go up to the Dee lake chain (is that still a dirt road access?) and out as Flyfish one and Flyfish two. In those cases, I would SERIOUSLY consider getting a float tube or pontoon boat.

BTW, did they ever wind up taking out that small dam on the Similkameen near Oriville? Might make the Similkameen worth fishing now. Also check out thhe various little pocket lakes in the hills around Oliver/Osoyoos.

Wilkinson has small rainbows. Almost every creek around has small rainbows. The only time there are big ones in the creeks is when you can't fish them.

You can fish it above the falls at Gallagher Canyon

As it has been said...there are just a couple of options for creek fishing around here.
The drive to fish the West Kettle seems to be the best option.
Now if you are up for a drive try down around Castlegar.

Here is another spot for you to try.
The south west end of Vaseux Lake.
Small and large mouth bass, perch, crappie, trout, and other fish.
