what do you guys use?

last season for 5 of us we had a 1.5L percolator and in the mornings it was always a race to get some before a second batch had to be made.

i like the large cabelas ones but way to $ for me.

any thoughts? looking for a stove top style

Same as you with the perc when we are camping. When we are the cabin we have two kettles on the stove first thing.

Buy the 9 cup Espresso maker, and have a kettle of water going beside it. Americano for everyone.
A Buddy I went wheeling with last summer had one, there was eight of us and we all got a hot strong cup o joe at the same time.
And fast. No perking over. No grounds in your cup, I was sold.
Think Hot steamed coffee concentrate.
And they are pretty cheap.

we have travel mugs that have the bodum press tops-it's way easier than waiting for the percolator to percolate. and there's hardly any wasted coffee when you've had your fill. Used to do cowboy coffee, then graduated to that coleman stove top one-but that ended up taking waaayyy too long-then finally these. All you gotta do is boil water and add it to the grounds with your fixins-put the top on and press! Nothing else needed.

Why drink coffee when you can have beer or a highball?

We rarely have coffee in camp anymore, tea is the hot drink of choice.....most of the time!

A big x 2 on that one. I just boil water over the fire and presto.

I was a little hesitant to try but glad I did, it doesn't taste much different.

i like the large cabelas ones but way to $ for me.World Famous ? has a large 12? cup aluminum perc, cheap, and when the stem falls apart, you can still boil up a pot of the good stuff. Toss in a cup of cold to settle the grounds.

We have the Cabelas 36 cup pot. We need it as there are usually 8 or 10 in camp. We use Costco coffee and boil it instead of perk, just pour a cup of cold water after boiling and all the grounds settle.

X2 on the espresso maker, gets used at home and in camp. I also will often take a mug with a built in frenchpress when traveling just in case.... and i dont like mustard with my coffee, but feel free to use that big yellow bottle of "french's" with your ketchup on your egg white

My dad still has his old 8 cup perc from 35 years ago. That things been all over B.C, and it's probably had thousands of cups of coffee go through it, but it makes the best coffee i've ever had.

1 oz dark rum, 1 spoon instant coffee, and stir. Traditional coffee! You WILL stay awake.

would your small coffee perculator bin work in a bigger pot / kettle.
i have never tried it but we always have the coffee scramble in the mornings as well ,you might have to fab up something to keep it from tiping over in the pot but i dont see why it would not work.

p.s whoever puts the coffee on in our camp gets the first cup.

Pretty upscale, but I use an epicure brand coffee press, one of the only good things my wife has bought at those parties. All metal construction, has lasted 3 years so far after going through one of the cheap glass ones a year. Failing that, it's cowboy coffee in a pot, before you pour sprinkle cold water bringing the grounds to the bottom and then don't drink the last cup.

I dont know what the stuff is called but its an instant coffee (single packs) with whitner and sweetner in it already, it is a Singapore coffee, found in the ethnic foods at superstore. Very good and I blame my hunting partner for my addiction to them.

Perculator's and coffee press'? Really? Sounds like y'all belong on the martha stewart show.

I figured we we're doing well bringing a coffee pot instead of boiling it in an old ketchup can with a piece of metal wire for a handle.

Now that I've graduated from tent to a small trailer, I use a Melitta cone filter, boiled water right into a 1.5 liter thermos. Good for the whole day in the boat or still hot when I get back to camp.
Best coffee ever is cowboy style , though!

Remind me to NEVER accept a coffee from 00Buck! The VIA instants have sufficient caffeine to keep the headaches away. They are small individual packets and really convenient, just boil water in whatever container you like, add the coffee and thats it! The stainless steel french press is awesome in the base camp though... even IWISHAKNEW is hooked and there ain't nobody grumpier than him about every little extra bit of gear to pack in and out of the truck!

I have a Coleman stove-top that gets used a lot when there is more than just me at the cabin. If I'm by myself I have a french press that makes a wicked 1.5 cups of coffee. A single cup 'pour-through' style that goes in the back-pack for day trips :)

I am always first up and in charge of coffee making. Boil or perk with a pinch of salt for flavor. Never touch salt otherwise including adding to coffee maker at home. Nothing better than the smell of coffee brewing outside in the morning. As for grounds, oh well, whip out the falsies, rinse and good to go - only advantage of not having my own teeth!

In the camper we use the coleman coffee maker. In hunting camp that would get broken or melted on the Camp chef stove so we have always used the melita cones into an enamel coffee pot. They are quick and cheap so 2 at once to start the day.
