Im looking to upgrade my 3-9 VX-II to a 4.5-12 VX-II with the CDS turrents for my 300 Win Mag. Is the extra magnification worth the costs for shots under 500 yards? Are the CDS Turrets worth getting and are they accurate?
Any one that has advise on these scopes would be great.
Thanks

I've shot CDS on 2 different rifles to 590 yards. They work, especially if you get accurate info for the dial (chronographed muzzle velocity, actual BC of specific bullet)

i use a 6x scope and i can shoot way past five. my eyes are good but i cant shoot tiny targets. a turret will help you with long shots if your willing to put the time in. i can see a clay pigeon at 5 and six hundred yards and milk jugs out to nine hundred and thats good enough for me. both your scopes would be fine out to five.

Pulled my VX-II scope off my rifle and the scope is now on its way to Okotoks to have the CDS system installed. Pretty excited

Did you chrony your loads and send in bullet data?

No, i use factory loads so i sent that data with it. My next step is to start reloading this winter, and can have another dial made to my loads for $30 in the summer after i learn how to re-load and use a chrony. the CDS process seems quit easy, they put the necessary part in your scope and you can change the dial on the scope when ever you change something (rifle, load, bullet grain ect).

Did not know you could do this, what is the turn around time on this ?
Have a VXIII 4.5-14 x 40 B&C I would like to add the turret to (imagine the turret is more precise than the B&C reticle ? Although it does work WELL)

usually around 3 weeks. Turret/CDS more precise than a reticle

The Guy i talked to today from Korth group (leupold Canada) say it was a week on there bench. If you go to there web page (www.Korthgroup.com (http://www.Korthgroup.com)) in the custom section i lists what can be done.

the turrets are $116.99 each, installed, taxes and shipping extra...Turret colour, like to old model T, you can have any colour you want, as long as its black.

So, how did it work out?

Has anyone else sent their Leupold scope in to have a cds installed? Any pics of the finished product?

I'm thinking of having one installed but not sure if I would just be better off just buying a new scope with the cds already on it. If I send my scope away to have it installed is it the same turret that a new scope with the CDs has.

They can convert it to CDS, or install a M1 turret. Leupold has a new turret for 2016, S1 I believe. No modification needed to your scope and you don't need to send it away to Leupold...I haven't gotten a chance to check one out yet but plan to do so when they become available

The turret is $146.15, you were quoted in US dollars. I think its worth it as a shoot a 9.3 with a rainbow like trajectory with 285gr Mega's, lots of power but with a range finder and turret should be good to 500 yards. Scope, 6x42 shit the bed so it had to the shop anyway.

Hmm sorry for the stoopid question..

I have 2 leupold scopes..
One is a regular 3.5...10 scope
Other is Boone and Crockett etched reticle..

Neither has turrets..just normal remove cap..adjust for sighting in..
Can these be upgraded to cds turretts?
Thank you
Steven

Yes I believe so Steven, you may loose the Crockett reticle to a normal reticle. The two I had done were a VXII and VXIII. Best bet is call Korth group. mine were done a few years back but the turn around time was quite fast.

Yes any Vx2/3 can be retrofitted to take a CDS turret. No reticle changes are needed
